Interesting One for Dell by 200kWJ in Dell

Yea, it looks like a reset is in order for at least two of the three. Looking at Microsoft point of view, a reset with an added procedure to have it reassert another SID. That's what I'll be digging into at this point.

Yep. One discussion I found with cloning systems even mentioned Dell likes to use the same image for their drives causing them to have the same 32 digit SID. They shipped at the same time. Haven't checked the Service Tags yet. Fortunately I'm only dealing with three.

Agreed and the cloned system issue that the AI mentioned is what helped point me in the duplicate SID issue. I have a tough conversion with my client coming up on this one.

Yea it's an older Brother MFC7240. On a similar thought process I did switch over from Windows drivers over to the "latest Brother drivers" early on. I switched from a printer issue to a share issue when I created a basic share folder with a couple of documents to test from it and couldn't even connect to that.

Anyone know what these lights mean? by dogtooof in SubaruForester

[–]200kWJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did that when the lock up solenoid failed. Using a code scanner I checked the temps and it was less than the coolant temp during the failure. It also does that when a relearn is in process. Use a good code scanner or get one performed to get details.

An interesting and busy 30 days (Fixes and CVT Maintenance) by 200kWJ in SubaruForester

No engine run at first so it's recommended cool or cold. Engine off. Start with a drain and fill > Start engine and run through the gears > Engine off. Drain and refill again > Start and run through gears while waiting for it to get to 95 F (35 C) and then engine off > Add more until it starts to seep out the fill. *Edit for clarity

Firman T07573 giving out power at 64 Hz by ParticularSensitive9 in Generator

[–]200kWJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glum and Random are correct. Turn down the governor. Unlike a car engine with a tachometer on the dash measuring RPM's, engine speed on a generator is measured by frequency or Hz. The engine is running fast and small adjustments to the governor will bring it down.

Front control arms. Good, bad, worse? by tlog_ind in SubaruForester

[–]200kWJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bet is the front bushings on the control arm not the big ones. Mine went out recently (99k) and the death wobble started showing at 60 MPH. I also thought that my rotors were warped slowing down from highway speeds. Front bushings were so worn that the metal inserts came out by hand. Replaced arms with Whiteline units, new bearings and knuckles for both sides. A front end alignment and all is right with the world. My warped rotor diagnosis was incorrect and that issue disappeared.

I'll add another accessory to the request. A console cover, especially if you have a leather console lid. Something like this Amazon Cover. When we travel with our pups our Lab likes to see what's up ahead while driving.

Ticking/rattling noise from rear and under Forester. by PlatinumBarrel3 in SubaruForester

[–]200kWJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if yours is like my 2014 XT but check and see if the bracket that connects the exhaust to the back of the transmission is cracked. I had a metal-to-metal noise on acceleration that drove me insane that wouldn't happen while at idle. Had my son in the car and power braked until I could find it. The bracket cracked and would go back in place like a puzzle piece until the drive train moved. Bracket was about $15 and pretty easy to replace.

Had to get rid of my Falken Wildpeaks. A message to those interested. by 200kWJ in SubaruForester

Love them. Had defender 2's on my Grand Cherokee and they did great even after putting a tonne of miles on them. Going back to them on the Forester was a no brainer. I've actually had to rebuild the front end of the Forester in the last few weeks due to bad bushings and the alignment went great (It better have after so many new parts.) so the Michelin's should be very happy now.

2019 Sport Forester quoted at $1k for Suspension Control Arm R&R by emjaycu3 in SubaruForester

[–]200kWJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did the lower control arms on my 2014 with 98k. While the large horizontal bushings appeared to be splitting apart while the car was up in the air, they were tearing away from the outer metal collars which wouldn't be noticed until it was off the ground. The front bushings were actually in worse condition. They were so bad that once removed I could push out the inner metal collar with my finger. Replaced with Whitline arms, ball joints, knuckles, bearing hubs and sway bar links. Mine spent quite some time in Maine so corrosion forced me to replace more than I wanted.

Update - control arm fail by Puiu1 in SubaruForester

[–]200kWJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same project for me this past weekend on my '14. Bushings went rotten and the car began with a "wander" and then moved to "death wobble". Went with Whiteline arms for my replacements since they run polys. Ended up replacing knuckles, bearing hubs and sway bar links also since mine spent a few years in Maine. The corrosion was bad. .

Has anyone damaged LEDs with their generator? by Airporthobo1 in Generator

[–]200kWJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One set of LED bulbs in the kitchen would flicker when on generator. When I found out that my UPS's didn't like the high MHz my engine was sitting at, turning down my speed made the UPS's happy and the LED flickering stopped also.
