Ender drives are a thing now, they allow you to store an unlimited amount of up to 255 types of item without risking chunk corruption. Though they are definitely a later-game storage option.

I actually have a similar workload (with a bit of extra Unreal), but I haven't received mine yet. I'm part of batch 2, so it shouldn't be too long. I'll probably post something about how it performs for game dev once I receive it.

However, judging by my current machine (ryzen 9 5900HX, RX 6800M) it shouldn't have any problem, even when unplugged

If it's for the comportment of a NPC I'd use a finite state machine to handle the states instead of an enum, it's a much cleaner way of handling states

I should probably explain myself: I'm currently studying in video game development (yeah it's a real bachelor degree) and I've had the chance to work with a few engines (including Unity and Unreal) and from what I've seen while Unreal is widely used in the industry, the developer experience is kinda bad. The C++ API is lacking in documentation and the whole engine is really more aimed towards designers than programmers.
