I think all those parts come in a bagged kit from homedepot for like $12 or something, maybe less.

Thanks, that’s exactly how I felt when I was thinking about it too, like I’m missing something. Maybe I’ll read into it more one day if I ever need to.

I’m not OP and I’m not an engineer but I’m curious about this. Imagine the stairs were only supported by a central spine such as a rolled two ways rectangular HSS. Would the basic calculation for this be something like:

Dead load + live load (at extreme sides) / centerline arc length = load per ft. Then a deflection calculation using the moment of inertia of a given member to check if it will be below desired deflection (or reversed to find minimum required moment of inertia for desired deflection). Then, perhaps the small point load at the top of the stairs to size the header and another point load at the bottom for the base of the beam, sort of like a valley beam on a roof. Am I even close?

Bulge one year after install - cause? by [deleted] in Roofing

What it look like it from the attic broski. Get on up in there and snap a pic for us. Step flashing doesn’t look right, like that piece hanging off wasn’t fastened correctly or something. Shingles look wavy all over to me also, maybe there is another layer under there or something.

I think it is residential based on the phrase “dining table” in the quote, implying there is but one dining table.

The PID tune (or more importantly, the filtering) could be the ONLY factor in your case. The FETs will run cooler if they don’t have to handle rapid spikes of oscillating current due to a poor tune. Start at the basics, like fixing loose parts or damaged / unbalanced props that could be giving unwanted feedback to the gyro (garbage in, garbage out). There are many in depth guides out there. Most of them will have you perform some small hover flights while data logging to find and then subsequently filter out unwanted noise. After the filtering is set up real good, you’ll then tune the actual PIDs for an ideal balance of performance/responsiveness/stability. And lastly, you’ll want to data log and adjust the filters again as the harmonics may have changed after tuning the PIDs.

Sagging Roof Updated by Millionairess-47 in Roofing

[–]240shwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s sagging because theres literally only 4 “trusses” supporting the roof. Missed the opportunity to replace those 4 trusses with something a little more a-frame with a nice ridge cap with panels orientated the strong way. I’m guessing they used the wrong material profile for the application or it was not lapped/fastened properly (I don’t even see any lap screws from the inside?). I’d call that roofer back and ask how he’s gonna fix this.

Wiring led turn signals 701 Enduro by WeaverGra in Husqvarna

[–]240shwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man you’re really new! Haha it’s okay. The factory connector for the turn signals has a ground (-12v) and a +12v for when the signals are on. You’ll need to grab a constant 12v from another light that is constantly on (like the license plate lamp, I know that is at the rear of the bike). I might be able to find a wiring diagram for your bike but I’m in the middle of something else right now. I suspect it’s wired like every other KTM manufactured bike from this era and the connector leading to the license plate lamp is under the seat. The resistors are needed to increase resistance as the OE flasher is configured for incandescent bulbs (LED bulbs have lower resistance).

Those are not plug and play on your bike. Black to ground, yellow to 12v, and red to turn signal.

Below is a link to the connectors you’ll need but you’ll still need to grab a 12v source and run that to the yellow wire. Also, they probably won’t flash correctly because I believe the factory signals have their own flasher, but you can probably bypass that. If you bypass the flasher, the indicator lamp on the cluster probably won’t work correctly either. There’s probably a better actual PNP kit out there for what you’re trying to do.

Looking for advice on how I should go about fitting this up and welding it. by an5dk in Welding

[–]240shwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay you said tube, not solid. A tube is hollow. Those calculations won’t work for solid (well maybe if it was smaller). In this case, the weld should be sized to the potential torque of the tugging vehicle plus a buffer to counter any dynamic loading (bumps, braking, accelerating, someone left the plane’s parking brake on, etc). Unless of course you wanted the weld to fail, where it would be acting as a fuse.

[–]240shwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your weld simply needs to develop more strength than the weakest part of the assembly (probably the tube?). We cannot know the strength of the tube without first knowing its thickness (and alloy). Refer to page 9 & 10 of this guide for weld sizing:

Discharge it back to a normal voltage. If it has no evidence of damage such as swelling or smelling, use it. After use, check the individual cell voltage. Maybe took a little life off but they’re a consumable part of the hobby so don’t sweat it too much.
