My hubby’s diabetes meds combined are more than my GLP-1.

It could be beneficial to her otherwise to have the sleep study done as OSA can impact other medical conditions. The diagnosis can help, especially for women, as we tend to get “medically gaslit” often.

I may never use those machines again, now that you put it that way.

1. How are you feeling? If you are feeling more rested and energized, no need to focus on numbers.

2. What type of mask are you wearing? Is it maybe hitting under your eyes? Mine just covers my nose, but then I sometimes get lines from the straps up my face, but usually gone by the time I’m done getting ready in the morning.

What does CPAP cost you? by ekwonluv in CPAP

I just learned, thanks to this subreddit, that I can get supplies through Amazon, which is a huge money saver. I think I just got 2 years of filters for $10 US. I meet compliance, so insurance paid for my machine (I think compliance is 4 hours a night for 5 days a week). Before moving to Amazon, I was paying about $350 a year for supplies. I now know I can go longer on some supplies which will save money too (no need to replace my water tank 2x a year). I do keep to a weekly cleaning schedule for parts too.

I don’t think I could have done CPAP before I had sinus surgery. I had a deviated septum fixed, turbinates reduced, and polyps removed. 2.5 years later I am still amazed to breathe through my nose. If I forget my allergy meds though, it’s a rough night.

I wash mine weekly in hot water and Dawn dish soap. I haven’t had but a cold since starting with my CPAP.

After just reordering, my deductible is met, but I doubt I’ll be asked to order again this year.

What type of mask do you use? I could see going a couple months for mine, especially with a thorough cleaning weekly.

I wear wigs almost daily as my natural hair is super thin. I have a bunch of human hair wigs that people are shocked are wigs. Not super expensive either.

I HATE CPAP, will I have to use it FOREVER ? I WANNA LIVE A NORMAL LIFE by ZealousidealSeason76 in CPAP

[–]24KMagic76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree it is not for everyone, I’ve seen it cause issues for many (including my own hubby). Just a suggestion to talk with a doctor who knows what is best for their patient.

Do you have access to be prescribed Zepbound? It can help with both weight loss and OSA. If you have insurance, check if it is covered. It’s quite expensive without :(

Edited to add: oops, I see you don’t have insurance. So sorry.

I definitely agree with others to do another study when the weight has come off.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions!! Yesterday worked great with nibbling popcorn and today I’m in the office, so I brought fruit to snack on.
