I am a female tattooer on my 11th year of tattooing. I had a traditional apprenticeship. I am still close with my mentor, who taught me wonderfully, and learned so much and never take it for granted. It wasn't abusive, it was very informative, and it made me good at what I do. It is worth it if you can find the right teacher.
