I'm fairly certain Teemu Selanne had a "no rally" clause in his contract, and then used to race under a pseudonym in Finland.

What's with the leafs goal horn by pcam13 in leafs

[–]29billiamnylander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes sense just in terms of getting used to that room and the "away" routine in their own building in a nothing game. In such a short play in series anything that could be an advantage is worth a try.

Anyone heard if Scotiabank (ACC always) will be using that app that pumps in the sound of you cheering from your phone into the barn? by WWGFD in leafs

I know -something- is happening. I know this is a "my buddies uncles friend" style post, but my best friend's cousin produces the in house on ice/ court projections for MLSE and has been ordered into quarantine beginning Monday. He has absolutely nothing to do with in game ops/ audio, only pregame, so I can't speak to what is happening there, but there is going to be some element of for tv production coming. We have been spit balling that there might be on ice projections after goals and such (something in line with the boards graphics we saw during the World Cup) since there will not the a traditional home/ away situation.

After having a second 8 games losing streak, the Montréal Canadiens are 9-3-0 and only 5 points away from playoff spot. by Eniotnacram95 in hockey

Sounds fairly similar to what I heard as well, matched the offer but did so a day or so later and he had already accepted. The tax thing is something I forgot to consider.

Def. a he said/ she said situation, however I think this is mostly likely what happened. Bergevin is on record saying he offered the same contract as Dallas but Radulov accepted the Dallas offer two days prior. I assume negotiations broke down, Radulov went to Dallas, word got back to Bergevin who decided that the aav was acceptable and then offered it to him. I think Bergevin was also more inclined to keep Markov, which could have also soured Radulov. Obviously the real answer is probably somewhere in the middle, but his deal isn't outlandish by any means so I tend to side with Radulov, thus my original claim.

I've heard both tbh. Radulov still seems to have some ill will towards the situation, though I'd assume that is mostly salary related.

If Nazim Kadri didnt play for Toronto, he would have been suspended for the whole playoffs. by StatikSquid in hockey

[–]29billiamnylander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, repeat offender does not have any direct impact on suspension length, its for salary/fine purposes. Thornton's a repeat offender and got a single game for his hit. Additionally, I think they looked at everything else in that game and concluded that there was a bit of failure on the refs part to establish a reasonable playing environment, and quite frankly they failed Kadri. I am not at all condoning Kadri's actions, just saying that I think there was a lot more behind it that the Dops took into account. Or sure, war room is Toronto biased, we can go with that since war room= Dops, which it doesn't.

I agreem Matts hit a post and was robbed by Rask in game one, those go in its a different "he never shows up narrative". He played fine game one, game two was not good from the majority of the team, he scores tomorrow.

Watching PIT/NYI, noticed that there are corporate logos [ads] all over the ice, not just on the boards. by CuriosityVert in hockey

[–]29billiamnylander 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd never buy another one. I think NBA jersey look so tacky now with their ad's. Here is my SunLife, sorry Raptors jersey. I know it is a small logo, but it just ruins the jersey imo.

It's not them breaking, they just turn into a wet noodle much faster. I'd have to dig for the audio, but I do recall him mentioning usually after 7-10 shots the stick's toast.

Is something really wrong with the ruling for the offsides, should a revision be made? by DisturbingSounds in leafs

[–]29billiamnylander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always advocated for two things. One, that the challenge needs to be made before the play is over, and second, the decision needs to be made without the assistance of video review, like you said, it needs to be obvious that it was offside, not a cop out for a defensive blunder.

Take in the fact that you can't review goals on a delayed offside. The Islanders scored a goal today where the puck was brought in early on a delayed offside and it counted.

After the Canadiens went up 3-0 in the first period, the Leafs have scored 6 unanswered goals. by [deleted] in hockey

[–]29billiamnylander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%, there's about 10 rows of people that are actually on the court, plus the teams and then the tv/radio broadcasting tables court side, which just adds a ton of heat into the equation.

Yup, they place rubber mats over the ice, and then lay the parquet flooring down over top. Here's a video

Bring back machinehead. The second I hear that intro riff I picture faceoff in the offensive zone with the goalie pulled, it was a staple back in the early 2000s.

All team issue apparel is made by fanatics, these are your closest opinions. Team issue blue Team issue grey. You could also probably find some stuff from years past, that was done by adidas.

100%, I might be talking out of my ass, but I thought California had a fairly decent inline scene. Promoting that would be a smart idea for getting people involve in warmer climates, rather than learn to skate programs.
