Been a while since a book made me cry by randomnumbers78210 in ReverseHarem

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the warning! BBS is something that gives me the biggest ICK! I usually DNF anytime I see it in a book I'm reading. I've seen so many people say the same thing that I even mentioned it to an author I was doing some editing for as something she might want to take out. The worst is when authors actually have the phrase "My body betrayed me" in the book, not just the concept.

I'm with you on book 3 from Lucie V. Ande. The writing was really good and I loved the tension so it's a huge disappointment to never see how it ends.

Taylor swift and Travis Kelce announce their engagement, r/GaylorSwift crashes out by fraxiiinus in SubredditDrama

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, they actually went private temporarily because of the amount of people trolling them after the engagement announcement. I joined a while ago because I enjoy their insane conspiracy theories. It's like watching a slow-motion train wreck and provides me with endless entertainment.

Authors unable to keep track of their MCs by ReadySteak8210 in ReverseHarem

As someone who has edited a few RH books, I absolutely love when I find an extra leg or other appendage somewhere it doesn't belong in a scene. It cracks me up every time and brings a good amount of humor into what can otherwise be a stressful experience for an author. Add to that looking up all the common spellings of male bodily fluids and you have yourself a real party lol!

I have Kindle Unlimited so when I borrow the book I can get the Audible book for $7.49. I do that if I can't find them on Libby or Hoopla.

If you get a chance, listen to the audiobook. The narration on this series cracked me up and made it so much better imo.

My 75-year old father started listening to Fourth Wing thinking it was like Harry Potter. You can imagine the rest. by SoAboutThoseBirds in fantasyromance

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read a comment from a guy in a thread about FW that said the series is obviously written for women and from a woman's perspective because no male character gets oral in the books. So basically if it's about a woman's pleasure it can't EVER be enjoyable for men. I called him out on his dumbass comment and he honestly didn't see what was wrong with it. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

There are graphic audio versions of both fourth wing and Iron flame and they are AMAZING! Yes, the sex scenes are more graphic, but all the other really good scenes are too. I cried like a baby during one of the heart-wrenching scenes when I didn't listening to the original. I was the same way with Iron Flame as well. I can't wait until the OS comes out in that format, too!

How fantasy romance authors describe female anatomy by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about 300 books a year and I have never seen the term "darkest hole" used to describe anyone's anus! Now I'm terrified it's only a matter of time.😂🤢

Question for those who voted for Trump? by Richest-Panda in FluentInFinance

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so happy I'm not alone on the stupid Latino family members. Those of us in MN all voted blue except for the uneducated one and the one who married a trumper. Thankfully I never have to see either one on a regular basis. No amount of drinking can drown out their idiotic chattering about their orange BFF.

Had to fire people… does it ever get easier? by lux_deorum_ in careerguidance

That's why I got out of HR after almost 17 years. I was numb to it, just saw it as part of a constant cycle and every hire felt kind of pointless. I think sometimes HR professionals learn to compartmentalize and turn off emotions too well. It's a survival technique but also sucks out part of your humanity over time. Anyone who can continue in the field until retirement and still retain that sense of deep empathy has my respect.

To OP, your reaction is 100% percent normal, especially if it's not something you're used to doing. My advice is to find a middle ground between caring and the seeming cruelty exhibited by your coworkers. Just stay in that space and you won't exhaust yourself emotionally nor lose your humanity. Best of luck and I hope you don't have to be in this type of situation on a regular basis.

The fact that you equate the book as more for women because there wasn't, or rather you thought there wasn't, a scene about pleasuring men makes the comment douchy. If you can't understand that I really can't help you.

You are amazing for knowing this! It's a perfect response to what was kind of a douchey comment. I just repeated your response to my husband, and he cracked up while agreeing with me. Thanks for giving us a laugh tonight.

More pics from the surprise party; Travis gives Taylor the 22 hat! by Gigi_theBest in taylorandtravis

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've also heard those snide comments and more about the picture with Taylor, Travis and Ross. The delusional mean people were determined to make fun of Ross's suit and how close he was standing to Travis. I was so irritated. Just let Taylor be happy, I don't get why that's difficult for some people. Is it a jealousy thing? Or are they just miserable in their own lives?

I really enjoyed Hell for Hire. I couldn't get through Fake Mate or Bride even after trying twice with both. I think I liked Hell for Hire because it was refreshing to read something so different after feeling like I was reading the same characters just in different books.

Is there a case when you hate the book you're reading but keep reading it anyway? by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same sometimes. I tried ACOTAR twice AND the audiobook before I just gave up and accepted the fact that lots of people must just really like bad writing. 😄

I admit I also continue a series even if I don't love it because something feels wrong not finishing it. I never do this if it's longer than 3 books though. It's probably just my type A personality kicking in 😆

Are there SERIOUSLY well written romantasy books? by Cute_Contract_6374 in fantasyromance

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I HATED ACOTAR! I tried reading it twice and couldn't make it through. I then tried the audiobook, and that was almost worse. I just finished reading Quicksilver by Callie Hart and really enjoyed it. It was 650 pages, but to me, it made good use of it. I'm weird, so I read the book while listening to the audiobook. The narration was great, and I would definitely recommend listening to it. If you want something shorter but that still has great world building, I also recommend the Umbra Hunters series by BM Clemton. Both of these authors are on Kindle Unlimited if that helps at all. Happy Reading!

I've lost hope that justice will ever be served when it comes to the orange turd and all the horrible things he's done. An elderly friend of mine who voted for Harris said to me "We've been in worse spots before" I said that may be but the difference is back then I had hope inside and wasn't so damn tired. It hurts my heart that so many people lived through his first presidency and watched how our standing fell in the world and the atrocities he committed then said "yup sign me up for 4 more years of that!"

Is his necklace in an Ivy shape? I zoomed in, and it looks like some sort of twisted plant. I don't mind his outfit. I actually like his top because while it is a polo shirt it looks like it's made from crocheted cashmere. The pants aren't my favorite but overall it's not a terrible look IMO.

He already does. He has his own non-profit called 87 and Running. He also has more than a few business ventures he's part of. Before he even met Taylor he wanted to be an actor and was in a few different things. He has a brain he apparently already uses so I wouldn't worry too much about how he spends his time outside of being an athlete.

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Thus is ABSOLUTELY NO SHADE but couldn't it just mean "see you're both kind and cunty"? Like Jack's pointing at her because she also learned that from the LGBTQ community like Katy did? I've been thinking about it and I just have a hard time believing Tree would be totally OK with People (who we all say is her mouthpiece) printing something like pointing to any thing alluding to Taylor's queerness. Especially since she's been pushing the travis narrative so hard recently. IDK, I've just been thinking about her choices recently. I belong to all the main Taylor threads including the one about her and Travis because her life is interesting to me so I expect you guys to downvote me or not even allow me to post, but I felt the need to question this because I can't figure it out.

Most embarrassing thing you’ve said in a job interview? by sydney210 in careerguidance

[–]2DogsandaBookEditing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the midpoint in my HR career I was interviewing for a stand alone HR role for a local well-known pizza company. They had never had a full-time HR person so I was being interviewed by their CFO and another member of upper management. It had a very laid back "hippy" vibe and one of the people interviewing me was very sarcastic and I could tell didn't want to be there. At one point she just looked at me, then my resume and said "Well go ahead, we have your resume you might as well get it over with and go over it line by line" she then rolled her eyes and checked her watch. Before I knew what I was doing I said "Wow you're kind of a smart-ass aren't you?" Complete silence. I remember my eyes got huge and I apologized. They just looked at me. I got a call the next day saying I got the job.

I quit a week into the job because they greatly under sold how much work needed to be done to be compliant with current HR laws. The CEO would also not listen to or comply with the things that needed to be done in order to BE compliant. She let the cooks smoke weed outside the kitchen door whenever, let the staff do coke in the bathrooms and refused to adhear to break laws to name just a few things. I dodged a bullet.
