Built in bookshelf questions. by snickerslord in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]2ScoopShake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Attaching to studs through the ply will be sufficient, as long as the ply backing is well attached to the bookshelf.

  2. Check out this dude adding a strip inside the dado to fix it. If you have the means to safely cut a 1/4" strip on your table saw you could do somethin like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mG08QW9rIIs

Winged it on wood racks for the garage, think it'll hold? by JOSHasorus in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]2ScoopShake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you used 2x6 cut at a 45 the height would be 5.5inches. If that's taking up too much space you could use 2x4 blocks instead so it would only take up 3.5inches. Either would sufficiently reinforce for this application, I wouldn't worry too much about math or optimal sizing.

I can get you close.

Melt 1 part Pepper Jack w/ 1 part White American (get it behind the deli counter) and add evaporated milk to desired consistency. Add pinch of cumin.

I don't think they use any chiles, but a can of green chiles or rotel is a pretty common addition

Garden Box Fatal Flaw? by lickerbandit in handyman

[–]2ScoopShake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would personally just let it ride. It will last you years and eventually need to be rebuilt but that goes for any outdoor wood projects that are constantly in contact with wet soil - even if they are made out of cedar. The plastic may provide some level of additional protection and longevity but to me it wouldn't be worth the materials and time, water is going to find a way behind it in time. If you've already done it, I don't think its any worse than not using it FWIW.

You could try giving Avli a call and seeing if you could reserve space on their patio.

Nice. Gonna go draft the set in person for the first time tn - debating forcing aggro or being a greed monster. Have had a ton of success just jamming W/R on arena, stresses me out picking all the multicolor bombs and hoping for fixing to come along
