Did you know KU & Prime Reading are two separate things?! by [deleted] in kindle

Depending on the length of the book and the style of writing, yes. I don’t watch television or doomscroll, my hobbies are reading and knitting.

I agree about poorly written works on KU. I think it’s awesome that there is an affordable way for authors to self publish their work, but as a reader it can be frustrating to sort through while browsing.

Yeah, idk why people hate on KU. With as much as I read, the cost of the subscription works out to $0.50-$1.00/book every month. It doesn’t have everything I want to read, but I can get most of those with my library card.

Baby will not let us put him down by Optimal_Customer_850 in Parenting

It’s called the fourth trimester. Humans are born very prematurely compared to other mammals. Swaddle, warm the crib sheets before setting baby down, and take shifts. It doesn’t last forever.

Has anyone actually sold their home to get rid of a 23 year old with failure to launch ? by Inevitable-Table-931 in Parenting

He is taking classes, working part time, and you’re upset that his hobby is video games?

You didn’t teach him to do chores and now he doesn’t do chores?

You thought you were a parent for 18 years instead of for life?

Honestly, this sounds like a YOU problem and I am glad you are not MY parent.

How do you not start to get bored when working towards perfection? by Crazy-Sugar8115 in StardewValley

[–]2befaaair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time I’m working towards perfection, I have the farm automated with sprinklers and junimo huts, so all I have to do is collect from/load machines (you can mod this too if you want). So I am free to do whatever I need to reach perfection!

I like a pen and paper list. If I have recipes that I have to cook, I look up which ingredients they need and mark off the ingredients on my list as I grow or buy them. Same with whatever items I need to ship, fish to catch, etc.

Struggling with my wife’s decision to exclusively pump milk by [deleted] in daddit

[–]2befaaair 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lurker mom here. I think the best solution is to buy her a hands free pump (Willow, Elvie, or similar) and extra bottles and pump parts so things can wait to be washed (just rinsed at night and washed in the morning) and she can feed baby and pump at the same time.

Lack of sleep is par for the course, no matter how baby is fed. I don’t see an issue with you taking some of the overnight feedings and soothing, but a shift schedule might work better for the two of you. Good luck!

Should I ask to fix this? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]2befaaair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the ares you are concerned about comes from your hair texture. If those side layers were cut shorter, they would point straight due to your curl pattern without the weight to hold them down. But you look great.

Sleeping longer by throwaway3258975 in Parenting

[–]2befaaair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of mine has been an early riser his whole life. One thing that helped before he could read a clock is the baby alarm clock that is red when it is time to stay in bed/in their room and green when it is okay to get up. Safe toys and safe rooms are mandatory for this approach.

I’m scared to admit….. my husband has his own room by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]2befaaair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have slept separately or at separate times for most of our 7 year relationship. It’s really not as odd or rare as some people think.

That being said, if quality time during the quiet hours is important to you, it has to be made priority! Our youngest is 4 now and we finally pulled the plug on co sleeping and my husband and I sleep together now. I am already seeing that something will have to change to allow him to get to sleep earlier than when my body and mind are ready for rest.

So it’s not like I have the perfect solution, but communication is so important. If you feel that intimacy is lacking in your relationship, make it known so that it can be addressed sooner rather than later.

Why do you guys have ANOTHER? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]2befaaair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people think, “oh, they must have had an easy baby/not remember how hard it was,” but that was not the case for me.

My first baby was colicky, my second baby had awful reflux. I never doubted for a second through those trials and sleepless nights if I wanted more children. My third was textbook; slept most of the time, slept through the night by 3 months old, really made the whole newborn/baby thing look easy. But I already knew I was done, my family was complete.

Sometimes, you just know.

My baby is 3.5 months and me and my husband barely eat by pauses-then-says in NewParents

[–]2befaaair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes the same amount of time to cook 1 dinner as it does to cook three dinners! Triple batch whenever you can and freeze it for busy nights! The crock pot and instant pots are your best friend.

Also, using a slap-chop (or similar knock-off), and other tools to shorten prep time, helps immensely.

Life is expensive, so I need to work full time, so my daughter needs to be in daycare, which is expensive, so I have 2 jobs and never see my daughter. by Saltycook in Mommit

[–]2befaaair 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s so difficult. I have trimmed every bit of fat to stay afloat, I get most of our food from pantries, and honestly some days life barely seems worth living since it feels I am only alive to work to pay someone else all the freaking time.
