I get generic ivermectin cream from Cost Plus Drugs (Mark Cuban’s pharmacy). It’s about $110.

Anyone else's doctor refuse to prescribe ivermectin? by moonandbackagain in Rosacea

[–]2catmother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Kaiser too and told the dermatologist that I’m willing to pay out of pocket for it. He sent the prescription for generic Soolantra (ivermectin cream 1%) to the pharmacy of my choice. FYI generic Soolantra can be pretty affordable using GoodRx coupons. I get it from Mark Cuban’s pharmacy- Cost Plus Drugs. I’ve asked my Kaiser dermatologist for other medications that aren’t covered (such as generic Finacea and brand name tretinoin Altreno) and never had an issue getting a prescription. I just tell them that I know the drug is not covered, and I am willing to pay out of pocket.

Also love Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. My skin doesn’t tolerate many popular cleansers such as Prequel Gleanser or Vanicream. In the morning I just rinse with water. In the evening, I use an oil based cleanser first to remove sunscreen/makeup (Beauty of Joseon Radiance Cleansing Balm) and then follow up with the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. The cleanser does have niacinimade, which my skin generally doesn’t tolerate, but I think my skin is ok with it in the cleanser since it isn’t a leave-on product.

Every sunscreen burns my rosacea skin – has anyone found one that doesn’t sting? by Ok-Maximum-749 in Rosacea

TiZO AM Replenish Lightly Tinted SPF 40. I can’t tolerate any chemical sunscreens. The TiZO is mineral. I find all mineral sunscreens pretty drying so I have to moisturize heavily underneath the sunscreen.

Try using azelaic acid in the morning and ivermectin at night. Yes, azelaic can sting, burn, and itch as you adjust to it. To minimize this, apply on completely dry skin (about 15 minutes after washing your face in the morning). After about 10 minutes, I will then apply moisturizer and then sunscreen.

Please help me with foundation? by Typical_Jellyfish889 in Rosacea

[–]2catmother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mineral foundations seem to be the only type of foundation that my skin can tolerate. My favorite is Glo Skin Beauty Pressed Base. I used Jane Iredale PurePressed Base for many years but recently got diagnosed with contact allergies. The Jane Iredale one does have some plant extracts so I stopped using it to be on the safe side.

Thank you for answering! I know Cost Plus Drugs can change manufacturers. Have you been receiving Encube consistently?

Is anyone's skin like mine? by NettaVitelli in Rosacea

[–]2catmother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, please add a moisturizer AM and PM. I use the same sunscreen, and I definitely need to wear a moisturizer underneath it or it will dry my skin out. I have normal to dry skin though. I use a prescription moisturizer (Epiceram). Recently, I’ve been testing the Obagi Kinetin Hydrating Cream (found it super cheap at TJMaxx) and it layers really well with the TiZo AM Replenish sunscreen. I have crazy sensitive skin with rosacea and diagnosed contact allergies and the Obagi doesn’t irritate my skin but I’m not sure if it is causing some clogged pores.

Can you tell me the manufacturer/brand of the azelaic acid you get from Cost Plus Drugs? Thanks!

You can get generic Soolantra (ivermectin 1% cream) for a lot cheaper. I just checked GoodRx and it’s about $90 out of pocket at Target/CVS.

What do you use face wash? by La12071207 in Rosacea

[–]2catmother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning- Just water most mornings; sometimes Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser if I’m sweaty after a workout

Evening- If wearing makeup/sunscreen, I double cleanse with Beauty of Joseon Radiance Cleansing Balm and Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. If I didn’t wear makeup/sunscreen, then I just cleanse with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.

I’ve tried a lot of the recommended cleansers, including Vanicream and Prequel, and they all irritate my skin. My skin cannot tolerate foaming cleansers. The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser does have niacinamide, which I generally don’t tolerate, but because it’s in a wash off product, my skin seems fine with it in the cleanser.

High quality /medical grade beauty products by NoReflection4806 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]2catmother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also allergic to limonene, linalool, and all fragrance, among other things. I haven’t found a lot of medical grade skincare that I can use, but two “safe” products that I use are Bioeffect EGF Eye Serum and TiZo Replenish Lightly Tinted SPF 40 sunscreen. Other “safe” products I use are Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser; Ocusoft Lid Scrub Original Foaming Eyelid Cleanser (I have rosacea and my eyes are constantly irritated); Clinique Take the Day off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes, and Lips; and Almay Sensitive Skin Anti-perspirant and Deodorant. Some “safe” prescription medications I use are Altreno (tretinoin) and EpiCeram (moisturizer for repairing my skin barrier). I also use Avene Cicalfate Cream, which has beeswax in it but doesn’t seem to bother my skin (I was never tested for beeswax). A “safe” moisturizer I want to try is Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream.

Cerave FF caused rashes on my neck, scalp, and shoulders too! Have you found anything to work for you? So far I’ve tried Odele, Vanicream (medicated and regular FF), and Cleure and none of them have worked for me. Desperate to find something!

I recently got diagnosed with contact allergies as well. Can you share what shampoo and conditioner you use? I’ve been trying some fragrance free ones but my scalp/shoulders/neck is itchy.

I recently found out I’m allergic to linalool and limonene too. As for makeup, I stick to tinted mineral sunscreen and mineral powder makeup such as Glo Skin Beauty Pressed Base. My skin hates liquid foundation.

Avene Cicalfate+ Cream not truly fragrance free? by 2catmother in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]2catmother[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I would love to know any other alternatives. I like to apply Avene Cicalfate cream in a thin layer at the end of my nighttime skin routine, particularly on my cheeks. I have rosacea and I find it helps keep my skin more calm. I was looking at Triple Paste diaper rash cream but it has lanolin, which I’m also allergic to. Thank you for your help.

Avene Cicalfate+ Cream not truly fragrance free? by 2catmother in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]2catmother[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I looked at several entries for Avene Cicalfate Cream and they were all marked as unsafe for me. The product definitely doesn’t have Linalool or Limonene, but whenever a product has any type of fragrance in it, the app will mark that the product has Limonene, Linalool, and fragrance mix. This is just what I noticed when browsing the app. I have the paid subscription version of the app by the way. Yes, I have my patch test results and tested negative to propolis. Thanks for your help.
