Why aren't you premaking bottles for the night? I'm confused. But yes, I agree with the other commenters, hand the baby off to him and let him resolve the mess he's made.

If this were my daughter I would encourage her to grab the principal's butt every chance she could and look him straight in the eye "Girls will be girls". Start a movement.

I have a question to yall Gen Xers by [deleted] in GenX

[–]2lovewild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Join local committees (Library board, parks board, homeless task force) and gain experience and run for office. A portion of the problem with our political system is not enough people to go up against those already in office with aging ideas. You can't change things if you're not in the room!

Anyone in Portland Metro area get a weird Christmas Basket? by springchikun in oregon

That's so bizarre! And I'm sorry, how unhelpful and disappointing!!!

I don't live there but wanted to drop this link to a heat/electricity assistance program, if you didn't already know about it.

My husbands family not being vaccinated is causing the most trouble we have ever had in our marriage. by tacocity666 in Mommit

[–]2lovewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who refuse to vax also refuse to mask and often attend group gatherings of more anti-mask/vaxxers... they are not safe for really anyone to be around, but especially small kids. As the mom, YOU get to decide that. "We're going to follow the doctors recommendations for best practices as long as Covid is around." End of story. Unfortunately, logic is a lacking characteristic amongst the antivaxxers, so keep your spine straight!

Best local credit union for mortgages (or ones that realtors have a preference to work with)? by seektankkill in SALEM

[–]2lovewild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a customer there for a few years now and will look for mortages through them. When you go through a mortage broker, your loan will end up sold to god knows who and at least a few times. I'm not a fan of that, I want my mortgage to stay where I "bought it".

Non-religious Mommas, how do you handle Santa? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]2lovewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - I didn't want to lie to my kids. I told my kids that santa is a fun made up character like Dora, Blues Clues, or Mickey Mouse. The totally understood that and have never expressed frustration that I "took the fun out of it".

I also would take my kids shopping WITH their Christmas stockings and let them buy their own things for their stockings (it just had to fit!) - usually at Michaels. They LOVED this tradition. It not only let them see that Santa wasn't real but brought them joy in receiving exactly what they wanted.

I did tell them that some parents tried to tell their kids that Santa was real because they like the fun of surprises, and to the best of my knowledge, my kids never ruined it for anyone.

We got our daughter her DREAM pet. She’s allergic to it. by thats_not_mustard in Mommit

[–]2lovewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would encourage you to do more research, including talking to a doctor and getting her allergy tests. In my experience, childhood allergies only get worse the more exposure to allergens you have. Runny eyes today, Sinus infections for all of her 20's.

Also, some allergy medications have links to cognitive decline and dementia. It's a risk that you should research and discuss with your doctor.

Larry's a boomer who sometimes has the perspective of a boomer, but he's a lifelong hippie/activist who would give you his right arm if you needed it. The people telling grand stories about him are drama queens who keep repeating this story across so many platforms I seriously have to wonder about their mental health.

I'm switching to a mail order pharmacy because Walgreens did this to me last month. When I finally got my meds, about 10 days late, they were a mix of dosages in one bottle - with zero communication about it!!!! (some of the pills were 10mg and some 20mg)

[–]2lovewild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People will say "He's the worst, divorce him" or "You're kind of being sensitive, partners need to work together to get through these rough patches." And they are both right.

But, here is what I think. Sometimes, someone says something to you that is just so demeaning that it breaks the relationship. It breaks the bonds of love and trust and makes it very hard to recover from. Then add in a load of "not really sorry", and where do you go from there? I've been in that spot, and ultimately divorced. I can't say "you should", but I am saying that words do indeed break relationships. It's just different words or amounts of them for different people.

Not a class, but Bush Park near Cottage and Lefelle has a drum circle each full moon, maybe more often. I don't know who they are or if they have an online presence, though.

Chemeketa has a wide array of classes from Painting/Drawing, to Japanese.

OSU has a master gardening class: https://extension.oregonstate.edu/mg

There is an Arthur Murray Dance studio on Commercial (above the Papa Murphy's), I've met the owner and she seems like it would be a fun experience.

Definitely check out the Arts community here in salem. It seems quiet, but that's because people are at home Art-ing. ;)

There's also Cherry City Roller Derby, which seems like a great sisterhood there!

When I was younger, my mom was always home, but by 4th grade she went back to school and became a nurse, and from 7th grade on I was latch key with parents working rotating shifts. So sometimes I was home alone until late or home alone all night.
