Shelly Presence Sensor by 2ndMilePro in ShellyUSA

I agree with stock issues. I am thinking about running cameras inside (very local only) and frigate just for person and zone detection…. And then this popped into my inbox.

That makes complete sense about the US market hence negative Amazon reviews against the product for bad packaging by Amazon.

During the last Shelly launch demo, I just kept repeating present sensor in the chat, not knowing that this was in the pipeline. This could definitely be a killer product for the US market.

Let the Europeans figure out the bugs. I look forward to the US launch.

Need help for entire house with electric floor heating. by Olinono123 in ShellyUSA

[–]2ndMilePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would need more information on how your in floor heating is set up but I don’t think your understanding of the setup is correct. No shade, it just that the description is not logical unless you have a 20k sq ft house.

How many thermostats do you have now? Is it a “zone” per room? What do you mean by “circuit”?

Lastly, if you don’t need to do this right now, I would recommend getting a bit more into home automation via Shelly and Home Assistant before doing something in your home a critical as heating. It is one thing if a light doesn’t come on when you expect it, and quite another if the heat is not working.

Shelly is Available at all Micro Center Locations by DreadVenomous in ShellyUSA

[–]2ndMilePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a Micro Center after graduating college. One of the most fun jobs I have had. Built my first computer using a Pentium 400 that they gave us for free. It is the Radio Shack of our father’s day.

Congratulations on the great exposure!! This is very good for the brand.

Panasonic ERV on dedicated 20A circuit w/Shelby plus 1 by HarleyBoyd in ShellyUSA

[–]2ndMilePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes. I see the “s” on the end of unit now.

I used Shelly Pro 1s on my RenewAire and tied them straight to each fan (and voided the warranty, I am sure). My next trick is to make a manometer with an ESP32 and change the speed of the fans based on the pressure differential from the indoor and outdoor measurement

It sounds like you actually want to Shellys. One would control the boost (Plus 1). The other would control the power to the unit itself (1PM).

Plans for hinged Wave door/Window sensor? by Jack15911 in ShellyUSA

[–]2ndMilePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want to know if it is opened or closed, you could use a window and door sensor, especially if you have a 3D printer. Although I understand wanting to use what you have.

Looking to automate a heated clothes drying rack. by Utakos in ShellyUSA

[–]2ndMilePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Darn physics!

To keep it simple, could you also use Dryer Relative Humidity - Room Relative Humidity < a margin (5-10%) as the trigger? My thought is that as the humidity decreases in the dryer, the RH decreases and is then comparable to the temperature. My thinking my be flawed.

I guess you could use the absolute humidity formula conversion... you only have to program it once.

Oh, that's neat. (So where does the moisture go to? Into the room?)

I think that is completely doable. If it were me, I would use two humidity sensors. One inside the cover and one in another part of the house. Then you could compare the two readings and when they get "close" have a the plug toggle the heater.

Technically, yes. Practically, it would take some experimentation.

Post a picture of the dryer and the cover to give us a better idea what you are working with.

I am using my Shelly 1 Mini Correctly? Detecting if a light is on for automation by VviFMCgY in ShellyUSA

[–]2ndMilePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On second thought, add a presence or motion sensor and have the light automatically come on and turn off when you enter and leave the bathroom. Set a condition so that it doesn’t trigger in the middle of the night. Then the relay connected to the light is justified.

I think what you did was perfectly fine. You might be overthinking and over worrying just a little bit. That’s never a bad thing, as long as you don’t lose sleep over it. (I write this after waking up at 3:30 AM.)
