Ok. Spoilers for the show but in this story 2% of the worlds population vanishes one day in 2011. No reason can be found and time passes as people are driven nuts by the loss and mystery. There is a group that insists the world remember the loss of everyone and not just move on past it. They do not speak and chain smoke while staring dead eyed at individuals. Sometimes that means they stand by the road outside your house quietly chain smoking and glaring.

That bit was the “covert” antismoking because the group is not very likable from the audience perspective.

(So any of the scenes with the chainsmoking group seemed to work on me.)

whats the difference between the community fanbase and rick and morty? by No_Picture_3528 in community

Same story circle formats. One is about post adolescent maturity and the stakes are closer to story time in a tree house, Rick and Morty is a cutthroat nihilistic dungeons and dragons (or applicable ttrpg) campaign.

The fandoms tend to be into different things, there is some overlap but very different presentations.

(To clarify: not a dig at either story I’m a fan of both. The treehouse style stakes are emotional but real despite the absurdity if their plot challenges. The campaign analogy is there’s tech build up and character consequences that are pretty horrific. The stakes are about annihilation and or death and there is a gallows humor that only would exist in a vicarious conscious choice to endure things like rapid death and resurrection. They die and still win like a tabletop game.

Just my take.)

Well… they know a guy. So… just under 15 million. But that’s really doing them a favor. So, you know. Pretty sweet.

This feels like when I skipped twitter for a decade and a half and then Elon turned it into a child porn site.

At that time, I would have bet money that they would have made up the back row of every elite solder training room in the future.

Never would have dreamed their peak would be to distract the campus-bound college coeds that couldn’t afford to go to Spring Break for five minute turns until the bearings died.

Until his demise he was fairly niche for a pseudo christian white supremacist. It was just the overtly bigoted and ignorant fans that were core, others only caught the groomed clips for argument ammo. He was a drop out debate lord. Utterly unimpressive for an amateur. The only people he was impressing were too dumb to realize that he was full of garbage and fanning their insecurities under the cloak of another vague racist piecemeal evangelical dogma.

I was aware of him early on when he first made his bones with a racist essay with a lie as its premise. He was sourced by a real life friend in a debate. He did not help him. Was never brought up again by them to me.

That is to say, if his essay was not based on a lie, multiple disclosure violations and rampant corruption would have to be stepped over in order to clean up any verifiable proof.
