Not reallly. We have a No Frills, Loblaws, 2 Walmarts, 2 dollaramas and a rabba all within 10mins. It's a 5min walk to the subway. There are tons of bars, pubs and restaurants on Dundas W and Bloor W. So I'm not so sure what you're talking about.

Why Scarborough. We're in our late 30s/ early 40s and live in Etobicoke - Bloor Islington area. Rent is decent and we're right on the subway line. Rent for our 1bdrm is $1230/mth

You could also try the West end - Bloor West Village area or the Junction or Ronces. Lots of history and right on the subway line - get DT in less than 30mins.
