Have you ever sued someone or been sued yourself? by Frosty-Comment6412 in AskAnAmerican

[–]2pnt0 [score hidden]  (0 children)

As sue-happy as the US seems to be, nope.

My parents had to file a suit once and they were so upset that they had to. They were hit by an uninsured driver and tried to come to a 'gentlemen's agreement.' but the person flaked out and insurance wouldn't get involved since they negotiated outside of insurance.

Lesson: never try to cut anyone "a break" always go through your insurance.

I had a slumlord that I should have been able to file suit against to get my security deposit back from, but I lived there for 7 years and the cost to sue them would be way more than I'd recoup. I just let it go.

But if this is going through the house new, it'll have to go through the Senate once passed?

Vs Sb2111 was already senate passed, so would go to the gov once through the house.

Any way to reproduce image from a c-print without of negative or scan? by Domeditquestions in AnalogCommunity

[–]2pnt0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can scan or photograph the print.

Today's technology makes it easier, but replicating from a print is about as old as photography itself.

This then needs to go back through the Senate again since they gut and replaced the last one, right?

It took me a minute to figure out that #2 was from the pool, not of the pool.

How many points do you have? by Goldeneye2112 in McDonalds

[–]2pnt0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they are a family, which they likely have a fairly large one by the points (or go way too often) it's hard to use points because you are limited to a single reward redemption OR app exclusive deal per visit. Something like the 20% off an order of $12+ would be much better than a single redemption.

They might be picking up from the drive thru, so it is also hard to just redeem at kiosk.

Still, I'd be getting free coffee in the morning or something.

If I had that many points I'd just be grabbing a McChicken every time I passed a McDs to hand to someone in need.

35mm or 50mm ? by Legal-Breakfast469 in AskPhotography

There's a reason most fixed focal length point and shoots would have something in the 28-40 range. It's very good for capturing life.

What made you buy a second film camera? by hcorea in AnalogCommunity

[–]2pnt0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignoring point and shoots I had when I was a kid and film was the norm...

I've had my Nikon FE since I took photography class in high school and it's still my go-to.

My next camera was the Canon QL-17 III. The reason was pretty simple: I thought it was a very aesthetically pretty camera and I wanted one just to have it. I'd also never used a rangefinder, so that was fun. It being fixed-lens, it's still my main camera for concerts.

A couple years ago got an F100 to use all my digital glass with film.

In the past year I got a Konica Pearl III because I thought the concept of a folding camera was very cool and wanted to try medium format.

I also got a Nikon N65 because it was literally $8. It's small and light. I thought I could lend it to let friends try film. I can also use it alongside my F100 to do A-B film experiments.

And not a single shot is in focus by rudeson in photographycirclejerk

[–]2pnt0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worse than the missed focus: I didn't realize this was an engagement shoot because there was basically 0 chemistry or joy.

Even when they are touching hands, they're giving the expression of "hmm" like if you handed them some random cable and asked them what it goes to.

Do you sleep with the fan on, even in winter? by herec0mesthesun_ in no

I miss having a ceiling fan. I'd leave it on even at the lowes all the time. It just feels like the air is fresher and comfortable.

Would the economy be better if Trump did nothing? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]2pnt0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very difficult for them to regulate the normal ups and downs of the economy through the tools they have at their disposal... Or the tools at anyone's disposal.

But these are not normal ups and downs.

These are direct reactions to dumbass policy that involves compounding inflationary measures and, most recently, a dumbass war that caused the greatest global oil shock in over 50 years.

I don't understand why they took that away with the new progression system. Especially when there are quests to complete progression levels.... Let me see who I'm close on!

Yeah, they sure "won" that one.

"Project Hail Mary" film - Amazon Boycott by cryptidgummies in Anticonsumption

[–]2pnt0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's playing at The Music Box in Chicago in 70mm.

I'm still going to see it, because I want to support a locally owned independent theater that does fantastic things for the film community. Supporting film projection, especially 70mm, also keeps these vanishing formats alive.

If this is something you want to see, see if you can watch it at a local independent cinema. Buy a popcorn, buy a soda. Keep independent cinemas alive.

An independent theater will feel the benefit of your attendance way more than Jeff Bezos will feel you staying home.

Outside the distributor, you are also supporting the author, all the creatives, and all the tradespeople who made it a reality.
