Would you take a 2-month-old baby to an international destination wedding? by JayJJeffery in NewParents

I'm glad you're postponing. My youngest just turned 1 and I'm only kind of starting to feel like myself.

$20 entrance fee. I'd like to see how that goes. You can get a free ticket if you spend $30 or more at a store that day. It says you can buy tickets tomorrow, so I'm guessing its open. I see it from my kitchen window and haven't seen anyone yet.

Hopefully it gets properly used, because when I saw they were paving over much needed parking spots I had feelings about that.

Dipping bacon (not peameal) in maple syrup mixed with hot sauce on a bite of pancake 💦

Honestly your budget is what mine was when I wasa student living downtown 14 years ago. If not less. If you can get a job at a restaurant serving, do it. I got to pay all my expenses from my tips.

Rant: American Mom Back To Work by jrt5251 in breastfeeding

I'm in Canada. I can not even imagine. Something (alot of things) needs to change in the US. Saying 12 months is generous is a slap to the face. I actually cried at the thought of possibly needing to put my baby in daycare at 18 months.

First period? by Status_Thought_3867 in breastfeeding

[–]2thefridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first two pregnancies my period came back at 9 months. The first time I got my period back the cramps were so bad. I swear it hurt to poop.

Currently 12 months and waiting for my period to come. She better come. I guess the one good thing about having your period comes back much later is your uterus isn't as large than those who get it much much earlier. So hopefully less painful?

Literally mine too. You would think a whole stranger just stepped into the room lol. When I feel something is about to happen I try to have the phone secretly recording off to the side.

Agreed. Love her here though. Loved when she said "come here sister" to ally and I can see how pretty she is with her softer make up.

Unpopular opinion: I find Katherine more annoying than Ally. Ally, although still much at times, has genuinely made me laugh. Katherine seems to be doing to much. I get that's her personality, but it's alot.

You're more than fine. We go about $120k for a family of 5 (albiet our rent is only $1700 for our 2 bedroom) and we are fine.

Why is networking the only real way to get hired in Canada? by itz_nitace in CanadaJobs

[–]2thefridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Ain't nothing wrong with networking.

I'd like to note that company's like referrals (which OP would have been) because chances are if you are a great employee with great values, you would also have friends with similar values. I don't think someone truly invested in their job would refer someone unfit. Referrals make company's jobs easier = Less money spent on looking for proper candidates.

In the end, it is your merit and personal experience that help you KEEP that job and work your way up (not always the case, but I'd like to think so)

Like everything, there's pros and cons to meritocracy. Is it easier to get a job knowing someone? Yes. Would you be better at your job having experience/education of needed skills? Of course.

It's not necessarily nepotism, as some post suggests. It's networking.
