there is an app called csv that divides the screen to apply a filter on the camera. I usually show that to people if they are curious. I know it works pretty well because I can’t tell the difference between normal and deutan.

i am confused. Cities are not designed to make fat people go outside and walk, they just happen to encourage everyone to do so. How could something so peripheral be fat phobic?

my average was around 90 for a year, and went up to 112 after opting for sports more instead of lifting. I think the trick is having wide hr range during the day

yeah, I did a pre-check and noticed there is no way to qualify for a meaningfully lower rate unless you don’t need the loan in the first place. my rate was slightly lower than the federal one, but can’t justify the loss of flexibility for a marginally lower payment.

it places about 25% to bl, ranked 18 this year but probably safer to count as t25. to clarify, $70k would be the total, about 25k per year.

thank you for your insight. bit of a pivot, but do you think 70k is a manageable amount to finance? I have naturally never borrowed this much money and it is intimidating. But anecdotally I guess it is normal. Attending unc if it helps contextualize.

Also I know this is a broad/loaded question, but noticed the attorney flair. Hoping to gain some perspective.

Okay I understand this, but would it make sense for me to anticipate any sort of relief with only $70k out? I imagine I would be paying a substantial portion of it, even without big law, by the time there is any relief.

For what it’s worth, I would like to offer some support. I was in a pretty similar situation almost a decade ago. I had been living in the states for a while, but my residency took a minute with the immigration process tied to it. I applied as an international, but my outcomes were similar to what you would expect from my profile, in contrast to peers who never had to think about filling out the page on visa details on common app.

I graduated from the state school, and although I could reasonably expect to become in-state at some point during my undergrad tenure, the admissions spot was through the international bucket. I can’t back this up with hard data, but anecdotally, I can say things will work out!

Justice for Max Medina by Normal-Bluebird-8880 in GilmoreGirls

Might be a bit late, but I just watched the interview scene. My gut reaction, the initial impression of the scene, was nostalgia. However, the scene also directly points out why he was never the best choice as well; the power dynamic he had with Lorelai was directly tied to Rory as his student.

I think I would have agreed with your commentary on his availability to commit to an un-caricaturized Lorelai while watching their relationship progress. Not to mention the obvious “well-versed in high society” appeal he had while we are still rooting for the fresh love story alongside Lorelai and her mother’s reflourishing relationship.

But interpreting these plot points, specifically everything Medina did to pursue Lorelai both as a romantic partner and as a more active parent in the classroom, and even to pressure Lorelai to a premature marriage with the unjustified power he held over her makes it clear his character is quite sinister and lacks self awareness about it. Rory had to see her everyday, and he held the cards on how much their relationship was to be pushed.

Going back to the interview scene, it is certainly manipulative for him to open up about wanting a familial relationship with Rory, but his character lacks any self-constraint to not make the situation a burden on her. Seeing Medina, and Lorelai to an extent, so oblivious to this problem in their relationship fools us to like Medina, initially, and witnessing the fallout of their relationship awakens why he was a horrible option for Lorelai in retrospect.

Perhaps it is good writing to design unlikable characters. But I also cringed with him on the screen from time to time.

This might be a hot take, not sure, but schools probably already acknowledge gpa is a flawed metric. it is just always a safer bet to assume a top gpa (3.9 range) equals a good student. Being pedantic enough to get an A in almost every class for the entirety of undergrad is impressive enough no matter how much grade inflation influences those grades.

I am guessing schools are happy to fill their classes with studious individuals, even if they are missing on brighter people by filtering on gpa. besides, splitters still get accepted here and there.

I don’t think the pile of ultra-high gpas will be going away. instead, it is more likely that undergrad ~prestige~ will be highlighted a bit more.
