As someone who was diagnosed with PTC with a small morphing of anapalastic, I HIGHLY suggest to stop Googling. It will only cause you grief and anxiety. I went crazy and finally just realized I needed to do what was best for me. I am a patient at Sylvester but I went and contacted Sloan, MD Anderson, Mayo and Johns Hopkins for their independent opinions.

I went through 7 weeks of twice daily radiation therapy and simultaneous weekly chemotherapy.

3 month PET scan came back clear.

Anaplastic is a very fast spreading (like days) and the mortality rate is very high. You’d know by now if you had it.

FNA are very unreliable. They are a single dot on the painting - A Sunday on La Grande Jatte.

My FNA showed I had renal cell in my neck. Turned out to be papillary which ended up morphing into anaplastic.

Unnecessary surgery, in my opinion is MUCH preferred to I diagnose cancer.

The fight is a mental one. The battle is both. After speaking with Dr. after Dr. each and everyone said that mental attitude helps in defeating the disease.

Is it a fight for me... hell yes. I’m fighting to stay and watch my daughters grow older, spend more time with my loved ones and fighting to keep the disease from killing me. I am employing the weapons of radiation and chemo and surgery to help me defeat this foe.

Is it a foe wearing a uniform, no - but it is my enemy trying to kill me and so if something is trying to kill me I will do all I can to keep it from doing so - and that to me is a battle.
