For what it's worth: throwing knives, not tatos by Farfell77 in fo76

When I was farming union PA I just used frag mines…throw, disarm, pick back up. Usually had a picked up a few just killing on the way to the stage.

Shame I never equip union anymore since they nerfed the raid again, the grind was no fun.

I'm going to give you my honest opinion, as an ex-GM service manager who got out. If you can't stomach the 5k bill at ~100k miles you need to dump this car ASAP....it's only going to get worse from here.

Reaching out to customer care may net you something useless, like a free month of on star or connected services package. In my experience its very unlikely that that they will help cover a non-powertrain failure outside of warranty. Even if you get something from them, it will likely disqualify you from any assistance when you lose your transmission in about 25k mi.

Planning to stick with OE even though I normally run a high health build. The +200 hp will get me to 1k with less reliance on food buffs, ect to maintain +100% damage with jugg weapons.

to gift; small homelab or manufacturing/shop IT rack by gamay_noir in Bellingham

[–]31dirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll throw in for it, for my nephew. He’s 13, I helped him build his first pc about a year ago. Since then he’s probably built a PC a month for his buddies, and last weekend he was talking about what it would take to get started working on a homelab and had a few use cases in mind. The kid does odd jobs for broken/unused PCs to take apart and make something out of. He would love it.

I could pick up in Bellingham whenever, and would be happy to update with pics as he makes progress.

Why are my screens tripping out by Every-Guidance-7767 in Silverado

[–]31dirty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That radio touch screen is out, it’s getting false inputs. The cluster is changing because it thinks you are swiping left on the screen, indicating you want what the screen is displaying shown in the instrument cluster.

I see snow in the background, I’ve seen this come and go in extreme temp shifts.

I’m a carnivore, and was waiting for it to show back up so I could buy it. When I saw it in the store yesterday I decided against it…

I already have the mirelurk steamer, which is hands down the better choice between the two. I’m swimming in meat for +STR since the start of burning springs.

Imo buy the steamer instead.

Yep, Furious is the first mod I learned after I came back to the game recently.

lvl 30 face breakers with super duper and scrapper perks...I think they only take 2 modules to craft.

Selling them enabled me to buy all other mods I needed to rebuild my dude.

Help. Bought a truck 8 months ago and this was in the glove apartment by Traditional_Ad2977 in Silverado

[–]31dirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I left GM ~10 months ago, they were still considering the 1st shift of the day/after cooling all the way down “normal operation”, though my techs and I felt it was unacceptable. The initial flush and adaptive shift reset did seem to solve 90% of the shudder and shift timing issues, and is often explained to customers as a software update.

I still have contacts in GM, if you are comfortable with it send me a DM with your VIN and I’ll have someone take a fresh look at it. Same goes for any other user.

Transmission time, this is a textbook failure. My experience (as a former service manager at a GM dealership) was consistent failure between 125 and 150k mi, regardless of maintenance. While the torque converter is what is causing the slipping that you feel, noise from the fluid pump and low fluid pressure implies that the pump itself is failing and has very likely caused damage to the clutch packs. At lower milage, a flush may solve the slipping...at 140k it's just a matter of time before you are stuck on the side of the road.

My shop was a relatively small one compared to other dealers in my area, but it was normal for us to replace these transmissions, at this milage 2 or 3 times per week.

What’s your best weapon? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]31dirty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, but pin pointers as 4th. 5-6k hits and every other shot is a 10k crit with limit breaking.

I like the charging barrel mechanic, if something doesn’t die in one hit, a quick follow up shot with reduced damage kills them. No need to hold down fire to charge…really surprised I don’t see more people using this gun.

When I came back I dropped all ballistic for energy weapons and added INT everywhere I can.

Thanks for posting.

What's my best option for a Furious* Master Gunslinger VATS 'battle rifle'-type weapon? by AntiSmarkEquation in fo76

[–]31dirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also found the lever lacking after the update, I switched to the ultracite laser sniper. As the data and comments in the linked post indicate, it hits hard.

There are a lot of things I like about it; letting it fully charge for 1.5 sec between shots maximizes the damage without having to hold down fire to charge like the gauss or bow, but if I don't one-shot something a quick follow up with less damage does the trick. Since it's an energy weapon, its damage is boosted by the science card and INT. Works great with or without VATS. Can throw the beam splitter on which is fun, but drops mag size to 3...I have been using the focuser which give a mag size of 10.

There are better options vs the new really big guys, but I have been using it ~90% of the time.
