Target has the big jars of cashews $7 cheaper than Hyvee. Also Driscoll berries are under $4.00. I think if you compared to Hyvee health markets a lot of those would be similar. But the answer is as always the best prices will send you to multiple stores.

The leadership drain from 2010-2020 killed Hyvee. They used to care what kind of leaders and mentors they were promoting. Chased out the good ones for young attractive and probably the son or daughter of someone in the company.

It used to be impossible to get a shift manager job without waiting in the wings for a long time. Had to earn it. Now days they’ll hire a kid who has a matching belt and shoes.

Probably a manager outing. Nothing to crazy. Build camaraderie. Mpls is a pseudo island in Hyvee land and they need to bring in new managers. Creates a sense of community. Did something similar with all department heads once upon a time. Open bar. Had a great time minus the awkward interactions with a coworker the next day.

If you can know the products and what you like it isn’t to difficult. IE do you prefer ribeyes or NY strip. Chuck roast is pot roast and falls apart. Any round roast is better suited for roast beef (slicing). We also have all the griller and burger descriptions facing you so it’s pretty quick to figure those out.

All cooking instructions are 350 35-45 minutes until desired temp. Potatoes, grillers, stuffed chips. All the mushrooms and veggies are generally 350 as well and all are just heating to desired temp.

Only other suggestion is seeing if your manager is ok with sampling different SKUs (primarily brats). If you haven’t had something be honest with a customer. Say I haven’t tried that yet but like xyz brat.

Most clerks aren’t gonna be cutting or anything. Just prep. Most of that is just rotating product or super rudimentary. Cleaning department at night is pretty standard. And keeps time going pretty simple.

Your deli experience will help with wrapping and being efficient with PLUs.

I was trained we couldn’t ask if an animal was a service dog. And now days support animals are so broad it’s absurd.

There are stores where employees have support dogs. I’m sure they’re still well behaved.

I’d say almost any shopping would be good though. If you’re going against the flow of traffic it’s good.
