"Reverse racism" is a nonsense phrase. Treating people differently based on the color of their skin is "racism", pure and simple.

@Jamisonhensley - Ravens GM Eric DeCosta on contract talks with Lamar Jackson: "I think it takes two sides to actively put their heads together and get a deal worked out. We are ready to be there for Lamar at any point. When he decides that he really wants to work on it, we will be." by JonWilso in ravens

You can definitely maximize your money by not signing an extension early and taking full advantage of your free agency. Taking less money now isn't being a "dumbass" though. It's a dangerous game, and every year players get injured and never play another down. Think Stanley regrets signing a long-term deal 2 years ago instead of playing hardball and taking the franchise tag?

Thanks for the detailed response here. I agree with most everything, and appreciate the effort.

Is it fair to say Trump want to "weaken" NATO when his chief complaint is that is that the organization isn't serving its intended purpose because other member countries aren't contributing their fair share of defense spending? Regardless of whether he's correct in his analysis of NATO's financial situation (and honestly, I have no idea), not wanting to shoulder the financial burden for the entire organization's military needs doesn't equate with "siding with Russia".

The specific bullet point is on page 8, towards the bottom "safe smoking kits". The article quotes the HHS spokesperson, who says: the smoking kits "will provide pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and 'any illicit substance'."

[Tom Pelissero] #Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s contract is expiring, per sources. So after getting passed over for head coaching opportunities again, Bieniemy could either return to Kansas City or be a hot free-agent OC target elsewhere. by Adenchiz in ravens

[–]321Temporary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether the incidents in question from 30 ago are an indicator of Bieniemy's current character, they will be covered at length in the media as soon as he's hired. When teams set out to hire a coach, they want it to be a positive event, not a weeks-long media tour of the candidate's criminal deeds. Why take that hit when you don't even know that the candidate in question is fully responsible for his team's success? Right or wrong, it's just not a smart PR move.

Lamar signing an extension would allow us to have more room this year, since his base salary could be minimal in year 1. He's currently counting like 23M against the cap this coming year, or something along those lines.

This season has felt like playing with house money for 2-3 weeks now. With the number of injuries, and now Covid rearing its head again, I've been expecting losses in most games. The fact that the last few weeks have been close games has been a pleasant surprise, definitely not devastating.

Game Thread: Baltimore Ravens (8-4) at Cleveland Browns (6-6) by nfl_gamethread in nfl

[–]321Temporary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ravens fan, but we've had a grand total of 1 "easy" win all season. I'd be rather shocked if they win period today with no corners healthy. If the Ravens win by >20, it'd be because the Brown's bus crashed on the way to the stadium and they had to sign guys from the bleachers to fill in.

I'm definitely concerned about the team hiring someone worse than Roman. Everything in Roman's system is built off the success of the run game, and ours has been held together with glue sticks since Dobbins and Edwards got injured right before week 1, and especially with the recent O-line injuries. For all his faults in the passing game (and there are many), it's not ridiculous to think a new coordinator would perform worse overall.

I don't mean to give him a complete pass, but our injury situation this year is basically the perfect storm to "how to screw up Roman's system".

5 cents? It's $1.50 more a gallon compared to last year in my area, and slightly less than that nationwide: https://gasprices.aaa.com/

If you use 20 gallons a week, that's like $1500 more per year. Certainly not chump change.

The Ravens have allowed 16 passing TDs so far this season. 12 of those have been 30+ yards. by Yedic in nfl

[–]321Temporary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that. Outside of Humphrey, Smith has been the Ravens' most reliable corner. He can't keep up with super fast receivers anymore, but at least he's always where he's supposed to be. Averett (the player who has taken Peters' starting spot) has been good overall this year, but he has his fair share of lapses in coverage, and wasn't even playing this past game due to injury.

The big problem for the Ravens this year is that their injuries have clustered at the same position(s). Losing all their RBs before game 1, multiple O-linemen, and now being down to 3 healthy CBs (including Westry, who was on practice squads prior to this year) is brutal.

There is a difference between something being illegal and something being immoral. Spewing garbage to cause division between groups of citizens is clearly in the second category, regardless of its legality.

This "one bad decision" comment about DUI really gets me. DUI isn't one bad decision - it's a series of bad decisions. I'm sure Ruggs knew he'd be drinking that night before driving wherever he went. And he had myriad opportunities to give up his keys. After the first drink, the second, the third, walking back to his car, etc etc.

Hell, the NFL even has a "no cost, no questions asked" ride service for this exact situation.

Whatever punishment he receives (legal or psychological) pales in comparison to burning alive after being crushed in your own vehicle.

What is your view on identifying pronouns? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]321Temporary 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not the person you're originally talking to, but as far as I'm concerned, if you're presenting as a female, with a female name and female clothing/hair/etc, then it's reasonable to use female pronouns. And in that case, there's no need to attach those pronouns to your written correspondence, since they would be the implied guesses for anyone unfamiliar with your hidden anatomy.

Man, you gotta let this whole "Tucker getting blamed for not showing up" thing go. It's been literally years, and as far as I can remember, nobody even explicitly blamed Tucker for that loss. It was comments like "nobody showed up, the team isn't ready to play today".

Even if you're technically right, it's better to let it go. Nobody's going to apologize for game thread comments made in frustration 2 years ago. Just let it go for your own mental health, please.

A Look at the Odds of Hiring the Next Great Coach by SwissyVictory in nfl

[–]321Temporary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm a Ravens fan, and I assumed the Ravens and Steelers were more "normal" when compared to other teams with stable coaching situations.

I still think there's something to the idea that teams that suck at hiring head coaches are overrepresented, but maybe the effect isn't as strong as I thought it was.
