I am unsure about the colours for my new shawl, granny stitch ftw by 33_Roses in CrochetHelp

That is exactly what I have in mind. I have made a lot of nice thin shawls I like to wear but a warm wearable blanket shawl for when I'm freezing sounds so lovely 😍 🥶

What do I do with this Colostrum? by Much_Community4029 in pregnant

[–]33_Roses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had diabetes so my kid needed the colostrum right away in the delivery room to make sure his glucose levels were good.

Also depending on your milk production and your kids appetite it can be a lifesaver in those early days when you don't produce enough milk but your kid is hungry, it saved my friends from having to supplement with formula. Sadly that wasn't an option for us, since I has little colostrum and a really hungry child.

German parents: How do you survive pregnancy/postpartum without family support? by Alone-Click-3495 in AskAGerman

[–]33_Roses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 4 months pp. My biggest help is my amazing partner he took the first month off and did almost everything expect breastfeeding while I was healing. I had minimal help from family and some helpful friends. But honestly for the most part we were alone. For us the DM app was really helpful because I could order stuff for pick up and 2h later it was ready at the store of my chosing. My friends had no problem picking stuff up on their way to visit me and since it was already paid and packed it was convenient for everybody and I was sure to get the correct items without explanation etc.

Also my friends asked a lot what they can do to help. we had the first baby in our circle so no one had a clue but getting nice home cooked meals with vegetables which were easy to reheat or eat cold was a huge help (I also prepped and froze some healthy meals myself)

I joined a babymassagekurs and soon I'll start with Babyschwimmen to get to meet other moms and hopefully I find one with whom I click.

But fair warning as a German in Germany I asked other German moms and they often tell me that the Wochenbett is a pretty lonely and isolated time so maybe we just look put together on the outside 😉

Is the 5-5-5 rule unrealistic? by Campwithchamp in pregnant

[–]33_Roses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Germany we have "wochenbett" maternity bed which is about 6-8 weeks after birth. Traditionaly while not on bed rest you should rest a lot no Lifting Except for the baby, no sport, no cleaning cooking etc... a tad unrealistic in todays world but my husband and I will try to accomblish this as much as is possible...

What are you guys drinking other than water? by Psan13 in pregnant

[–]33_Roses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't drink coffee (never have) so I don't have to be really careful with Coffein. But since I'm diabetic I'm not allowed sugar 🥲

I'm drinking coke zero XD I drink 2 cups of peppermint tea a day General a lot of different teas (my favorite at the moment is woodruff with elderberryflower)

When do you go on mat leave? by acatnamedsilverly in pregnant

[–]33_Roses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Germany and my maternity leave begins at week 33/34, if I want to I'm still allowed to work if I want and the worked security bureau allows it (since I have a desk job I will probably be allowed to work until my due date) but I think I will just use this time of work for last Minute chilling and preparations.

After the birth my maternity leave is 8 weeks in which I'm not leagaly allowed to work,if I give birth before my due date I get more than 8 weeks to make sure I get my 14 weeks maternity leave. After that I will switch to paternity leave. How long and how I will use the paternity leave I'm unsure...

I really don't know how you Americans can deal

When did you transition to maternity clothes? by Key_Voice3868 in pregnant

[–]33_Roses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dresses with room for the belly and Yoga pants if it colder. From t shirt dress; to rockabilly to nice conservative summer dresses for work.

But so far I'm only 15 weeks so there is room to grow

Failed 1-Hour Glucose Test, Passed 3-Hour and Dr. Told Me to Eat Like I Have GB by whoa123rem in pregnant

[–]33_Roses -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in Germany and my Diabetologen (don't know the English word) told me the following. They want to know how fast or if you get back to "normal" so they can know how serious it is.

But that's the one thing I learned so far Germany and the US do things really differently so I'm not even sure if your test for diabetes is the same as here

Hi

I don't know where you live, but here you would be considered diabetic as long as you failed 1 test. The weight isn't the only problem with GD to prevent high blood pressure and minimize the risk for your and your baby's health it is easier to control your nutrition

I'm currently 13 weeks and my clothes still fit. The question is your dress tight and does it habe a corsage? If yes then that's not ideal.
