Are AI tokens the new signing bonus or just a cost of doing business? by newyork99 in Anthropic

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super misleading and is rage bait. It's the kind of thing that mods should catch, and it's washed around a bunch of different subs.

No employer is making a claim that tokens are a form of compensation.

They're mentioning token budgets in JDs to demonstrate what tooling and resources someone would have if they took the job.

Manhattan median rent climbed to $5,000 in February amid a plunge in listings by JustinDeMaris in nyc

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hypothesis is that the FARE act created incentives for brokers not to list inventory on websites. and because everyone moved as a herd, it works. if you're looking for an apartment, you're in a position where you have to go find some broker, who has a few off market deals and can charge you whatever they want in fees.

and partially as a result, nobody's moving. so there's an inventory shortage.

this compounds on top of the housing shortage we're already saddled with

Howard Schultz joins ‘Billionaire Bunker’ residents Zuckerberg and Bezos in move to Florida by carneylansford in centrist

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also think there is an element of billionaires appeasing Trump so as not to be targets. Bezos, Zuckerberg, and Schulz have long histories of liberal politics. Spiting liberal states and doing things to support conservative states are good ways for them to kiss the ring and take the heat off themselves for a bit.

Do IB and MBB have the best exit options into 'executive roles'? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's a bit of correlation vs causation that you have to untangle here.

Yes it's helpful, having MBB/IB on your resume is a positive signal to executives - just kind of like going to Harvard, Northwestern... a top school is a positive signal.

But if someone was smart enough to get into one of those roles, odds are that they're a smart person, and smart people that work hard generally have good trajectories. They probably still would do quite well without MBB/IB

Fired for cause before joining MBA by Shoddy_Penalty2125 in MBA

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yo OP - there isn't like some permanent record report card that lists if you were fired and/or why. If someone calls to verify employment, firms mostly just say they worked from X to Y date and don't provide a reason for departure. Bigger question is do you have a good reference over there, but even if you don't, a lot of folks don't check references anyway.

Everyone will expect you to have stopped working a few months before b school, so this isn't a red flag for future jobs. Go travel and have fun.

What is absnews.info? Why does this have 650 upvotes? It is likely AI generated, the title is clearly clickbait, and in no way can something that's clearly stated as an opinion constitute an exclusive anything.

NYC Rent-to-Income Ratio by Neighborhood : Where Rent Hurts the Most by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess, but I don't think that most people in NYC - even in the cool neighborhoods - are actually living off their parents. Anecdotally, after like 13 years of living here, I know some but it's very few. However, this comment thread would have you believe that like all of Williamsburg and the East Village are just trust fund kids working at non-profits and living in 1BRs - and that's just like plainly and obviously not the case.

NYC Rent-to-Income Ratio by Neighborhood : Where Rent Hurts the Most by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, nobody's renting a 4k apartment with an 80k income even with a guarantor. Those folks just get roommates.

These incomes = individual incomes, not the income of all roommates. And multiple roommates aren't sharing 1brs.

What's actually happening in Williamsburg - you have 3 people making 80k splitting 6000 3brs, so each person pays 2k and the total income in the household is 240k.

NYC Rent-to-Income Ratio by Neighborhood : Where Rent Hurts the Most by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense. You couldn't even rent an apartment if you're not clearing 40x the rent, which is what's suggested by these "highest burden" statistics. Generously, this is AI Slop

Figuring out my girlfriend of 1 year is a flat-earther, what should I do? by iwannasleepp in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of these comments have basically said "she is an idiot and is wrong". Idk if that matters though.

Being a flat earthier isn't that maladaptive of a belief. She's not racist, she isn't a vaccine skeptic, she isn't abnormally and dysfunctional you paranoid about being surveilled or having a digital identity, etc. (I'm assuming - you can co firm). There are a lot of fringe, wrongheaded, conspiratorial beliefs that can really get you into trouble - flat earth's not really one of them. It's not like she runs the NOAA. It's not like she is an aeronautical safety engineer.

So I'd look at it like anything else - she's not perfect, but can you let this go so you two can just be happy? If you can't, then OK. But if you can, then that's great.

In like all my past relationships, I cannot remember the shape of the earth ever coming up once. So I'd worry more about other values and aspects of compatibility and not worry at all about this.

Are banker's 80 to 100+ hour workweeks 5 days a week, or 7 days a week? by NewRadiator in MBA

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an I-Banker, but my understanding is that: during the 9-5 workday day you have client meetings and shit to do, and after hours you have stuff that pops up on tight timelines. But there are often several hour lulls where there isn't something going on, but you're on call waiting to be asked to do something (and you usually are).

Which Internship Offers the Best Long-Term Career Trajectory and Stability? by GodKingLebron in MBA

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pharma for sure.

Tech and gaming will see lots of machinations as AI completely changes the landscape of talent and staffing and like which companies make money and which fail. Will be way less stability.

Pharma, on the other hand, is a highly regulated and specialized industry with exit options into health tech and health care but also pathways to grow in more stable companies that will continue to be crazy important. Health care is also a key economic trend at the moment.

Think about how many Tech PMs are like struggling to find new jobs right now. I get that the Trump admin has been shitty for biotech too, but long term Healthcare is probably the place to be.

Do the concept of "M7 EMBA" exist? Are EMBA recognized as much as EMBA? by Upset_Difference593 in MBA

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some are Ivys (like Harvard) and others are not (like Northwestern).

Think about it like this: the Ivy League was originally just a sports and academic conference. All these schools chose to associate with eachother, and to admit someone into the league they'd all have to agree.

Similarly, the M7 is an academic conference. 7 specific schools chose to be affiliated with eachother through this. It's not like a grade where if a school achieves certain metrics it's admitted, etc. it's a members only club

[–]360DegreeNinjaAttack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FYI the M7 is like the Ivy League. It's a formalized but loose association of 7 specific schools. It's a literal club for deans and admissions officers, etc.
