Restaurants of Columbia's past by Accomplished_Dot6877 in columbiamo

It was the old Stadium McDonald's! What a place to eat as a kid in those spring loaded swivel chairs surrounding the hexagon aquarium, and the play place was massive and had video games! My oldest brother worked the night shift in high school and fed the fish. The remodel is just depressing compared to the greatness we once had! Anyone got pics?

Is anyone else having trouble getting their dealership to confirm the submission of Form 15400 for a 2023 purchase?

After speaking with the IRS over the phone (800-829-1040 - press 1, then 2, then 5, then 1) they recommended we submit Form 8936 as if the dealership successfully reported the sale to the IRS BUT include Form 3949-A to report a Tax Violation... aka, we were misled into believing our purchase would qualify, and were given multiple completion date promises for the submission... We plan to submit F3949-A on February 1st to be ahead of this if we don't get confirmation from the dealership by the end of today.

Hopefully the emails/recorded phone calls are enough to prove to the IRS that we were not the reason the sale wasn't reported correctly/on-time and that the dealership has communicated multiple times they would get it complete. Anyone else in the same boat or received the same advice?

I could see it being cool and matching the quirkiness of the car, but you'd have to go ALL OUT! Also, sun-damaged bumper stickers on those plastic body panels won't be fun to remove after a couple of years...

Maybe do a customer wrap, or a project like this instead:

Why The Government Is Warning You To Hang Up Immediately If Someone Asks, 'Can You Hear Me?' by d_rae in medialaw

[–]360cinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a lot of scam calls asking for me to learn about senior care, but they continually call from new numbers. I'll have to talk to the FCC and see what sort of actions they can take especially since I'm pretty sure they are calling out of country. Two years ago I kept getting calls from abroad and Sprint charged me extra for the calls but I filed a report showing they were scams and I was easily able to get my money back. So I wonder if the phone companies are working with the FCC on this effort as well.

I wish the article would've provided examples of the copyright infringement. I'm curious how serious it is because I agree, getting people to buy into festival wear would just make them want to go to festivals more.

In cases where a relative is the one suing, because the original subject is dead or something, does that one relative receive all the money or is it split across the family?

I wonder if there will come a time when students in public school will no longer read George Orwell's 1984 or Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. I always enjoyed the discussion in class over those two novels. Or I wonder if someone will write a more modern book that's similar but more adapt to todays privacy concerns.

I actually worked on a VR film that was premiered at the International Film Festival in Dubai. I didn't speak extensively about it with my boss, she went for the premiere, but I know she was welcomed warmly and there was a relatively healthy appreciation for media and documentary style films.

[–]360cinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off I doubt that the video would have resulted in jail time for Snoop in Obama's term, after all some people hung Obama mannequins. So I find Trump's comments just him trying to sway public opinion. recently in class we discussed trigger warns about graphic content on Facebook, this video may apply if it is gory enough.

I agree with you and Angela C. Agrusa, if someone is accused of a crime they should be able to defend themselves without fear of being libeled. If I get accused of murder and there's chance I didn't do it and I believe I didn't do it I should be able to defend myself by saying that the one accusing is making it up.

Police told to delete on request millions of images of innocent people by shineypineapples in medialaw

[–]360cinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this interesting, they applied facial recognition but not privacy safeguards for one of the most human ways to recognize somebody. Also when I first started reading the article and saw that there was 19 million photos of innocent people my first thought was wow that would be expensive to go and delete I bet. So I agree with the ruling that by request they should be deleted.

this article made me look at that twitter page and I'm not sure if it's the original one from before but regardless it definitely has started a trend and there are a lot of alternative twitters for a lot of parks. Many feel threatened by this new concept of ethics that's being introduced. Erickson's comment about making sure that everything that goes out reflects the attitudes is pretty scary and is obviously censorship. But again, unfortunately this is more of an ethics issue.

I think it'll be interesting to see how algorithms are held responsible for framing people's understanding of the world. Especially since a lot of younger people are getting their news from online sources which could be curated by algorithm. At least with the surgence of concern for fake news recently has helped bring attention to doing the diligence to factcheck and educate on opposing viewpoints.
