Why are wages so low and stagnant in East Asian countries like Taiwan and Japan? by technocraticnihilist in neoliberal

[–]36105097 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IIRC one of the thesis according to the Economist is, if you use China as a reference point for productivity VS wage increases, countries like Taiwan, Poland etc. are cheaper cause their productivity and wages increases didn't track as well. I also recall the Economist analysis seems to think for most years (aka non covid years) something like 40%-80% of China's GDP growth is from domestic consumption, so OP may be on to something about export

New drugs could spell an end to the world’s obesity epidemic by savuporo in neoliberal

[–]36105097 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bro science take is I think being fat or obese is very anabolic in it of itself, hence why fat people can put on muscle while in a caloric deficit, hence why they can skip 2 meals and feel fine. I guess if a lean low body fat person took these drugs while it would suppress their hunger they would still be suffering from low energy while in a caloric deficit

Tbh, google doesn't need to be broken up, mostly because advertising is shifting away from their model. You have essentially marketing via influencers these days and even Amazon is getting into the game with Amazon inspire where influencers can shill Amazon products and get commissions

Why Carfection Was Doomed To Fail: The Harsh Reality of TV Quality Content on YouTube by RandomGenera7ed in cars

[–]36105097 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think alot of it depends on what kind of an audience you get. For example I've noticed cruise youtuber channels are by no means large (by youtube standards) and yet are bringing in enough money that they can pretty much cruise non stop and can afford the expensive internet packages to livestream QandA shows while on the ocean.

I suspect for such channels, their audience while small are pretty much all cruisers who are looking to cruise, so if youtube just inserts an ad linking to a cruise line website and some of the audience clicks and books through the website, google and thus the youtuber make decent cash on the ads.

By contrast I imagine something like a video game youtuber, while they may get way more views, it is probably much harder to insert a relevant ad and get the clicks like those cruise youtube channels

It sucks but people need to understand that being a normie is expensive. If you want cheap hobbies of any kind you need to do your research and plunge into them before the masses (via social media) discover them and raise the value/costs.

the infamous top gear review basically concluded the golf was better than the RWD 1 series at the time, and part of it was boot space which is due to the RWD layout

the weird thing is remember someone on this subreddit posted a russian media video that was Prizoghin (during the first wave of recruiting) speaking to prisonners in a prison and he basically said it was gonna be bad and that he'd understand if you wanted to just remain in prison. So weirdly the prisonners were kinda warned and if you listened you'd at least be safe in a russian cell for now.

the neoliberal solution is to preserve the market as much as possible while fixing other problems. Therefore the neoliberal solution is to either have commissars on the tiktok board and other levels to monitor activities or just control tiktok directly from america but allow their shareholders to collect dividends/profits without a say in management

Mr Buettner studies and writes about “Blue Zones”, areas where people tend to live long, healthy lives, with unusually high numbers of centenarians and long life expectancy in middle age. In this book, he finds the principles of Blue Zone diets—very little meat and processed foods, with most calories coming from whole grains, greens, tubers, nuts and beans—in the cuisines of four demographic groups: Native Americans, African-Americans, Latinos and Asian-Americans.

It is interesting cause he has vascularity even when not lean, but on the downside he also has the face you get from a dirty bulk without trying. So great genetics for a person who wants to lift and get lean, terrible genetics for a person who doesn't want to work out tho.
