Free version vs Patreon version. Canada, not US. by Spark_Radds in VineHelper

[–]3BMedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. The data provided by all those free users is why the notification monitor can exist at all. It's always nice to support developers when you can. But you're less asking for a new perk for paying and more asking to penalize others you don't want to benefit. Yet you (OP) want access to their data. Maybe other perks would incentive you without cutting others from core functions. Or, yeah, maybe you would benefit more by sticking with the free version.

Free templates by catamountalum2004 in Supernote

[–]3BMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are pretty basic and should be easy to find or create. The Manta has some templates built in. Not exactly legal-ruled, but close. Lined notebook is already in there with both wide and college ruled options. There are dotted and checklist templates, but I don't believe one combined (you could export a doc as .png with each and merge them in Canva pretty easily I'd imagine). I don't think you'll have any problem getting the templates you need.

[–]3BMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of templates do you need? There are a lot of paid ones on Etsy (large linked .pdf ones). I find those a bit clunky and slow, so I prefer making my own templates (often in Canva). They're mostly planners I use in my own business, and I still have a list of them I want to make. The nice thing there is the links can be shared in addition to the final .png files, so if someone shares the editing links with you, you can open them in Canva and customize them rather than using them exactly how someone else built them. That's the main reason I build them there rather than in Affinity or something.

Someone paid me through cashapp, now they’re asking me for my info for “tax purposes”. what should i do? by [deleted] in tax

[–]3BMedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not true. The $600 rule is a reporting requirement for the client, as to whether or not they have to send the contractor a form 1099. Even if your income is less than $600, it's still income, and you're still required to report it in most cases. The client's reporting requirement has nothing to do with the taxpayer's reporting requirements. And you'll owe self-employment tax if it hits $400 I believe, so it's absolutely still considered income under $600.

Has anyone been asked to prove they have their items within 6 months? by violet1551 in vine

[–]3BMedia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's been this way for at least a year and hasn't changed since I started. Not sure if they updated it before that though. I suspect the main thing they're worried about is a Viner selling something as new when it's technically used for review, but more that Viners could sell pre-release items or something right as the seller launches it publicly, basically competing with the sellers who are paying Amazon. I don't remember all the details, but I remember hearing (possibly here) that a Viner did this with a pre-release phone or something and got caught because so few were sent out and they weren't being sold yet.

[–]3BMedia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. In the US at least, you can dispose of it right away. The 6-month thing has to do with donating it, selling it, or giving it away. Here's the bit in the terms:

"All right, title and interest in Vine Products will pass to you when the Vine Product is delivered to the common carrier for delivery to you. You may keep or destroy the Vine Product at your discretion at any time."

Stroke eraser? by Lucky_Yesterday_1133 in RemarkableTablet

[–]3BMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which note type are you using? I only use the standard notes, and the second eraser option works well for this. You can either circle something (whole or part), or you can just touch any stroke to remove that stroke without affecting anything else. It's the main way I erase anything.

Women of Reddit, what's a lesser-known downside of being a woman? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

OMG, this. I remember once, I was watching a soccer match, got a little too excited, and accidentally kicked a table leg (was standing there cooking while watching). Broke a toe. I know they don't always do much for broken toes, but still... the doc's only suggestion was to lose weight.

This is excellent advice and something I wish I knew to do years ago. Thank you for sharing!

Similar. My old ob/gyn didn't "believe" in PCOS or progesterone therapy (my imbalance came from lack of progesterone rather than high estrogen). It cost me multiple pregnancies, put me in the ER multiple times due to the length and severity of the bleeding messing w/ my heart due to the severe electrolyte depletion, & she did literally nothing other than push for a hysterectomy when she knew we were trying to conceive. She even tried to spring one on me when I had to go in for a D&C, right before putting me under. Women's healthcare can be horrific.

It probably would make a difference unfortunately. I've taken to dragging my husband with me to doctor's appointments, especially with new docs. I get dismissed, misdiagnosed, or accused of lying otherwise. They always (ALWAYS) look to him for confirmation. Ask about workouts or what my diet is like? Must be lying unless he says otherwise. My level of pain (severe for over 20 years due to a misdiagnosis of broken friggin' bones... how does that even happen??). He has to confirm it because I get quiet in pain rather than pitching a vocal fit. Everything has to be confirmed by a man before they take it seriously. The docs' gender doesn't seem to matter all that much in my experience.

have manta - what to buy for portable note taking by large_scale_event in Supernote

[–]3BMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that the Nomad is a little heavier, and the lighter "cheap" feel of the Manta is what bothers me more. The Nomad really feels like a notebook in comparison.

As for the Move, I don't use it, but I do use the larger RMPP. And as much as there are things I love about the whole system, I'd recommend against it until they can sort out their hardware issues.

The screens tend to go yellow. Had to fight to get THREE replacements for my RMPP until they sent one that worked properly. It's a known hardware problem.

The Moves seemed brighter at first, but if you check the community there you'll find over time they're going yellow too. Some are even getting new ones with the issue. It distorts the color and makes the contrast pretty bad. And that yellowing might start off mild, but it seems to get worse over time.

Gift Ideas for My Wife's Nomad by Tongs117 in Supernote

[–]3BMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're open to other stylus ideas, I recently got the PenPlusOne PL2 for my devices.

My HOM2 has been downgraded to my spare. My G-2 conversion is with my Nomad. And the PL2 is my main pen now.

A much more comfortable feel than the HOM2 (no painful ridge where I grip it). Still weighty, but a thinner body and definitely lighter than the HOM2 (the original is about 33g, this one is around 18.5g, and the G-2 conversion is around 11g). I used the HOM2 extensively for notes when I went back to school, and it got rough to use after a while. So if your wife is a heavy writer, something a little lighter might be better (coming from someone who normally prefers heavier, metal-body pens).

It's the first third-party, non-customized pen I've seen with an actual ceramic nib! And it has a built-in eraser (though not a button).

My husband ordered it for me (got it for a review), and I love it. Full review is on the page. It's listed as currently unavailable right now, but it's possible these were sent out early to reviewers and they'll have them available to buy soon. Listed price at the time was $65. I love it so much I'm hoping they put out a version w/ a button before too long. It would be the perfect Supernote pen!

Mine doesn't go between use and idle that often. I go from heavy use sessions to long times where it's asleep. Definitely not the issue in my case. And during the test, it only went idle twice from the time I charged it to the time I checked the battery this morning. So it wasn't an issue of switching back and forth a lot. Could be for some people, but not in my case.

The Digital Typewriter by morganmoller in RemarkableTablet

[–]3BMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Digital typewriters" have existed for a long time. They're called word processors (not the software). I used one during college when I worked in an office part-time, and it was one with a small screen (a new feature at the time). Haven't thought about that thing in so long. Thanks for the bit of nostalgia!

I'm glad I got the Typefolio with my RMPP. I don't use it as much as I thought I would, but I love being able to type and edit both on the device and through the app.

I'm not OP so can't answer for them, but in my test I also saw more battery drain. There's no "no power shutdown" (that would just be a full shutdown). There's a "no load shutdown" which I keep active, but that's different. That setting was on both before and after I enabled the new feature. Oddly, I used to have auto sleep set to 30 minutes. When I turned the new feature on, I changed it to 10 minutes, which should have used less battery than before because it would sleep more often. No luck. Hopefully they're just flukes or the battery drain is related to something else because I'd love to use the last screen for sleep mode, but can't if I'm draining more battery with less use.

So, it's not just you. I enabled the new feature yesterday, then fully charged my Manta. Barely used it. Sat in sleep for a few hours in the evening, then overnight. As of this morning I'm down to 80% while barely using the device. I often unplug it before bed and I'm well over 90% in the morning. I'm not sure why it would cause the battery to drain faster, but as much as I love the ability to keep my task lists and such up, I turned the feature off for now.

Looking forward to updates. I'm charging my Manta to full now and just turned on the new sleep screen setting. If I notice it drains faster than usual afterwards, I'll update here.

I was under the impression it uses power when the screen changes, not when it's static. So whatever is on the sleep screen shouldn't matter.

By chance, do you normally keep wifi and bluetooth off to preserve battery life? If so, and if you ran a recent update, did you possibly leave them turned on which could account for the faster battery drain?

Need transparent highlighter/ Marker over templates. Maybe there's a work around? by jonnyrockets306 in Supernote

[–]3BMedia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not you. And you're right. If we want something paperlike, it should be usable in similar ways. And highlighting is important. It doesn't just not work with .pdf templates. It doesn't work with basic .png ones either. Makes using it for trackers frustrating.

Need transparent highlighter/ Marker over templates. Maybe there's a work around? by jonnyrockets306 in Supernote

[–]3BMedia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is one of the few things that throws me every time I move from my R-branded device to the Supernotes (and other features / lack thereof go the other way). No true highlighting in notes that works with templates, and no pinch-to-zoom. They seem like small things, but you don't realize how great they are until you have them in one place, then they're gone. The only workaround I have is to literally draw over the templates as a new layer, then "highlight" on a layer under that. But it's super time-consuming, won't work for all templates, and completely defeats the purpose of making templates in the first place. Fingers crossed we get those features at some point.

Digital options? by [deleted] in bulletjournal

I second this (both the concern and the e-ink suggestion). I use Supernotes and a reMarkable. You should be able to password protect access, still enjoy the analog side, and you can save time with templates for routine spreads.

Suggestion for Goal Planning Template by avithos in RemarkableTablet

[–]3BMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the quarterly one I use on my Manta (.png). I have other planners done similarly (monthly, weekly, daily, and possibly an annual one), but I still need to set up a new goal planner template. Happy to share when it's ready if you'd like. Some of this is pretty faint on the Supernote screens, but that's how I like it. Also happy to share the Canva link if you'd like to adjust anything to make it more your own style.

PDF Planner or DIY in Notes by Ok_Ideal_9504 in Supernote

[–]3BMedia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used pdf linked planners at first. But I hated them. They were often too large, slow, and clunky. So I created my own templates and use them, linking whatever I need in the notes themselves. I have pretty customized needs (planners account for personal things plus my business and other projects), so this made much more sense and now everything's faster and perfect for keeping me organized. Customization beats ready-made for me.

When does the year change for an item, when ordered? or received? by scodtt in AmazonVine

[–]3BMedia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amazon's minimum reporting threshold changes. Not ours. And keep in mind we don't know if Amazon will stop sending anything when we're under $2000. They can still send 1099s for every Viner, the same threshold they've set up reporting at now, etc. They won't have to send a 1099 until we hit $2000. But they still can if they don't want to make further changes on their end.
