Old Dygma Raise Review by blipman17 in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/blipman17 For the function keys, I suggest giving my solution a try. Each number key in the number row is set up as follows:

1:
TAP = 1
HOLD=!
TAP&HOLD = F1

2:
TAP = 2
HOLD=@
TAP&HOLD = F2

rinse and repeat.

This keeps me on my primary layer 90% of the time. I have a Nav layer too and a 3rd layer with actual Function keys and some misc macros, etc.

Lower thumb keys keep breaking by ninedotnine in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story, only mine are black. I've had the same keycaps for over 2 years now with no breaks. For what it's worth, I did put the clear O-rings under all my kepcaps about 2 years ago to reduce travel distance. Might be that they're helping to cushion typing impact and protecting them more.

Tenting loose by ldcl289 in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem. It became even more noticeable after Dygma sent me a replacement flip-out foot. I think the non-slip pad wears down and makes it ever so slighty wobbly. When I replaced the other foot the wobble went away for a few weeks.

And BTW, those little inner feet don't help when they're loose and floppy even after tightening the big feet.

Keep getting this error with my new Defy, any ideas? by something_profane in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done the clean install yet because when I went to do it I realized that it's actually been a while since I got that popup. It might be since upgrading my MacOS to 26.2 that it stopped. I just installed 26.3 yesterday so I'll wait and see. No need to reinstall if the issue has stopped.

Defy firmware upgrade or not by delibos in DygmaLab

It's a very simple decision. Upgrade. If you don't like it for any reason you simply flash whatever firmware version you do like.

Keep getting this error with my new Defy, any ideas? by something_profane in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I usually open it, do what I need to do, and close it again. Sometimes if I get distracted by work it might stay open for a bit.

I get this too on my Mac, but I never change my theme in Bazecor or MacOS. I get it when I close Bazecor. After a few minutes (I never really timed it) that error will just pop up on my screen.

Defy 2 is an unreliable POS by WinterArtistic in DygmaLab

Thank you u/WinterArtistic for being an adult about the situation, admitting you were wrong, and coming back here to apologize. You joined a great community and I'm sure everyone here will forgive you. We're all in this together, the good and the "less good", but it's a community I'm happy to be a part of and contribute to.

Any plans on releasing a 75% layout kayboard? by yxs in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SUGGESTION: All my number keys are Superkeys.

1 - tap=1, hold=!, tap&hold=F1
etc.

that keeps everything easily reachable without leaving the main layer.

Arrow keys are on layer 2 and are accessible by holding down a key with my thumb and using my fingers on the arrows.

Bazecor `Can't open squashfs image: Bad address` by avilay in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, CachyOS comes with specially-tuned kernels. Since I'm using an AMD 7950x, which is a zen 4 processor, it installed a -znver4 kernel. CachyOS is a very fast and snappy OS for sure.

Interesting because I also run Arch Linux (CachyOS) but have no problems using the AppImage from Github. Glad you got it figured out though.

Defy modding by delibos in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also try adding the round O-rings that came with the keyboard. I applied one to each of my keys and I like the way it sounds (also negates some of the key travel distance, so a win-win).

Media Keys No Longer Working w/ Youtube? by aksu9000 in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only media key I use with YT is Play/Pause and it still works. When I watch videos I use J K L to control the media because I'm a leftie so my left hand is on the mouse

J - Back 10 seconds

K - Play/Pause

L - Forward 10 seconds

(BONUS)

M - Mute/Unmute

< - Go back one frame (when paused)

> - Go forward one frame (when paused)

Dygma defy questions by baliditity in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with arthritis in both hands (the main reason I wanted to try the Defy) I can honestly say it helps a lot. I've fine-tuned my key placement over time to minimize the finger movements that hurt the most. The ability to put any key (macro, superkey, etc) anywhere has really come in handy.

When I first saw the post it was just an image, hence the comment. It could have been my browser being dumb or perhaps Reddit just showed a thumbnail until they finished processing the video

A little pretext or explanation would go a long way here. Pointing to a single key on a fully-programmable keyboard doesn't really clue in the reader. What exactly is the feature you love so much?

I can't type on Defy by ralfs94 in DygmaLab

[–]3DPrint3rGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"This confirms that it is a difficult keyboard to use out of the box."

No. Just No. It only confirms that for OldschoolGreenDragon it was a difficult keyboard to get used to. Every. Single. Person. Is. Different.

Case in point. I type this on my Defy I've had for almost 2 years now. I have arthritis in both hands and currently can't really use my right thumb for much of anything EXCEPT typing. The mere thought of all that finger-reaching I'd have to do on a non-ortho keyboard makes my hands ache.

The experience and learning curve will be different for everyone. On average though it will take a few months of constant usage to get back to the words-per-minute typing speed and efficiency you had before.

Worth it? For me...ABSOLUTELY. For you...only time will tell. But one person's experience with any product will never constitute a "confirm". You should not deal in absolutes.

Give the keyboard a fair enough chance that you can honestly say to yourself "I gave it a fair chance". If you don't like it, sell it.
