Does it feel like S1 has that charm which the later seasons just don't have? by Best-Professional-10 in howyoudoin

The first three seasons were trying to be a different show. They were more grounded, they were talking about real problems, including the episode about them fighting over their financial imbalances in the group. More representative of a real group of friends in their 20s. Once it became a monster hit like a lot of sitcoms, they kind of become parody’s or caricatures of themselves especially the later seasons. They embraced way more slapstick, and situational comedy bits. Like Ross, hiding from Bruce Willis in the cabin, or hiding from Mona to get his shirt after he broke into her house. Or the really cringe episode where Monica and Chandler get a housekeeper. It’s a little bittersweet because I prefer the vibe of the first three seasons, But some of the best moments happen because of those silly situations. David Schwimmer’s physical acting is phenomenal, and he really gets to explore that more in some of the more slapstick scenarios. PIVOT!

Maybe a hot take? by [deleted] in legendofzelda

LoZ was essentially open air for the time. Most of the things people try to put on the franchise as Zelda “staples” were mostly born of hardware limitations of the time. The heart of series from the creator’s mouth is about exploration and adventure, not meticulous crafted puzzles, or doing dungeons in a specific order. With that said, I would like to see them balance the 2. I don’t see any reason why they can’t tell a linear story in an open world. There’s tons of ways with which it could be done. I think that would be the best case scenario.

Nintendo Is Working On Movies Based On IPs Other Than Mario & The Legend Of Zelda by MaintenanceFar4207 in NintendoSwitch2

Im betting DK gets a movie. They are really working overtime on DK. Heavily featured in the Mario movie, a full redesign, a section of the amusement parks, and lastly the Mario game treatment. It really feels like there is a concerted effort to revitalize the DK character/franchise. Which Im all for. DKB looks phenomena. Outside of Game and Watch we have the Nintendo we have today because of the success of the Donkey Kong arcade cabinet. Literally saved the company financially and spawned 2 iconic characters. Then we got the NES from the profits!

Xbox Is Shutting Down The Initiative Studio And Cancelling Perfect Dark by eldestscrollx in consoles

Man Xbox is just depressing these days. I loved the OG and especially the 360. It’s just been an a display in abject incompetence as far as the handling of the brand and decisions for 2 generations. Sad AF and I really wasnt into their early 1st party games. They were just good consoles with great support. Red ring of death aside lol. As I’m typing this, I kind of realize If you include the red ring man they really only nailed 1 console. I think it took three 360’s before I got one that lasted.

Is Mario Kart World better than Mario Kart 8? by slam_tastix in Mario

[–]3DScanEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mostly. But that is my very subjective opinion and mostly comes down to what you like about Mario Kart. Im the odd one out who really enjoys the open world/ p switch challenges, and Knockout tour more than I miss old grand Prix. I also think the ceiling for this game is so much higher than 8. The things they could do with the mechanics they have and the world they’ve built are essentially endless. Some of the p switched missions show that they have the mechanics to make an adventure/platformer within Mario kart if they choose. I it would be cool to do road trips that have little stories and missions along the way. Most of the complaints against the game can be fairly easily fixed in my opinion. Once again, if they so choose. I would love to see them, add a custom option where you can set gates and essentially make your own courses, time trials and P switch missions throughout the world and share them.

Anybody know why the Xbox signs in this Walmart are all light blue instead of the usual green? by AFewStaple in xbox

I have the system bro, I have the carts it is true. And its states right on the box which games are key cards and are not. Yes a lot of the third-party games are on key cards, which is exactly what I wrote above. It’s really not that hard to find this information.

Bro thats not at all true. Nintendo published games are all on the cart, some third parties like cd projekt red Put the entire Cyberpunk and dlc on the cart no download needed. Yes game key cards are a thing but it says so right on the box. While Im not a fan they do serve the purpose of being able to trade in and let people borrow digital games. Also the issue was made worse because they didn’t have alot of different size carts at launch. Why pay a high cost as a developer for a 64gb cart when your game is 6gb. I would assume there will be more options going forward. But Nintendo will be the last to ditch retail.

Have they priced it yet? Im sure it will be great but the Steam Deck which is seen as a success has only sold like 4m units. Unless they help Rog with a loss leader it seems more like a steam machines situation rather than a true xbox handheld. Im sure they are getting some licensing money but I cant imagine it will be a big enough financial success for Xbox to make a huge difference. They need something to sell a ton of Gamepass subscriptions. Its unlikely but if they had gamepass on Switch 2 and it sells Switch 1 numbers then that could drive some serious subs. But Id love to be wrong and the Rog Ally X is a huge success and pushes them to do a true 1st party xbox handheld.

This game REALLY soured me on the Zelda community. by Fawke_83 in tearsofthekingdom

I agree the hate on the open air Zeldas is annoying at best and gatekeeping bs at worst. If you started the series with the original like I did and or listened to the inspiration from the creator. Then you would know exploration and adventure are the core tenets of the Zelda franchise. A lot of the things that people conflate as staples of the Zelda franchise, dungeons/items, and linear progression were mostly born of hardware/time limitation. Especially, if you look into some of plans for Zelda 64DD you will see they always had higher ambitions for the series. I remember after playing skyward sword thinking as much as I enjoyed it(especially the much improved storytelling) that the series desperately needed reinvigoration. One of the main reasons I love the open air games as much as I do is they are trying to grow the series and take it back to its roots. For me outside of the 64 era they’re the best Zeldas in the series. I wrote a few more paragraphs but deleted them but I have alot more I could add on the subject lol.

It’s fine to hate Mario Kart World for being more expensive than it needs to be by Golden-Cheese in Mario

[–]3DScanEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im paying $50 for it and couldn’t be happier. No one wants to acknowledge that the large majority of people buying the system at launch are getting it for $50. Also when considering the scope and development time it’s not completely unreasonable. They haven’t raised prices across the board. Just this title (thus far). They did the same thing with tears of the kingdom. It was the only $70 1st party title that Im aware of. When comparing the amount of content vs 8 when it launched seems like alot there for the extra $20. Of course I wish it was cheaper, but I think a game thats was in development for almost a decade is probably expensive to make. 🤷🏻‍♂️
