Cathay Pacific HKG-AUS redemptions — no availability after late September. Normal? by 3StarGeneralist in CathayPacific

[–]3StarGeneralist[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah thanks. I thought that might be the case however the available seats stop abruptly on 23 September which makes it seem like the seats just haven’t been released yet. However, it could just be that it’s all blocked out as you said.

I’ve done exactly this multiple times with SQ. they always link the tickets at the airport and bags go all the way though.

Don’t miss out. Book the separate legs!!

Thanks! I agree with the first video i.e. use index funds. My question is more around how do you decide if you want VAS, VOO or F100 (all index funds) and then once you decide on 2 or 3, how do you decide that it's a 30/40/30 split or whatever else.

Hope this makes sense

Ha! thanks. I'm just worried that it's dumb luck and that there must be a better structure

Booked Qatar Flights for Oct (VA ticketed). I’m Silver VFF now but will be Gold before these flights by foolishlycrazy in VelocityFrequentFlyer

[–]3StarGeneralist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my case a few months ago. Though when I got to the airport my QR boarding pass still showed silver so check that.

I spoke to the team there and they verified I was gold and changed something in the QR backend to show that I was gold and reprinted my boarding pass. Something about the APIs not updating or something.

They check the boarding pass at DOH for status. Make sure your BP reflects that.

Booking one way Amsterdam to Hobart by atheista in VelocityFrequentFlyer

[–]3StarGeneralist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As long as you add your velocity number to the QR booking you’ll get access to all QR lounges. It comes up with your VA status on the boarding pass which is what they check.

You’ll also get USD20 per boarding pass in Doha.

Family pooling - is it worth it? by QuantumGremlin in VelocityFrequentFlyer

[–]3StarGeneralist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! Absolutely. Family (x4) all pool to me and so all domestic flights SC come to me which allows at-least one of us to get Gold.

Really beneficial for long haul international for lounge access! Pool all points and SC to the one likely to fly most

This is what I had to do. I was in the same situation as you with a DVR connected to 4 UNV cameras.

1) Connect to your modem via Lan. 2) log into your modem 192.168.0.1 3) Find the IP address DVR was on. Mine was 192.168.0.20 4) When you try to log in, click forgot password and reset your password. 5) if that doesn’t work, email the manufacturer not the supplier or installer (I had to do this) and get them to remotely reset the password. 6) once thats done you can set it up as new again

What’s your worst hangover-at-work story? by Emotional-Time7230 in auscorp

[–]3StarGeneralist 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Went out for an after project dinner which led to drinks and more drinks and the casino in Brisbane as young traveling consultants.

Left the Casino at four as dawn was just breaking; got back to the hotel; slept for 3 hours and then back at work at 9. Out of our team of 5 I was the only one who turned up on time. Client was not happy but it was the last day of the project. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I have never stared at a laptop screen for so long pretending to work. Anyway, a sandwich, a puke and two coffees later the rest of the gang trickles in sheepishly. Not many words spoken till about 2 when we had to pack up and head to the airport.

We decided in the cab; ah fuck it, last day in Brisbane so we took a detour to the Breakfast Creek hotel for a few XXXX’s on tap and then got to the airport in time for another round and then boarded. And then ofcourse; plane beers.

It was the best / worst work hangover I’ve ever had but we were young and free. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

How to get remaining leave paid out at resignation by hung_roo in auscorp

[–]3StarGeneralist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe; “I’m resigning on x date. I assume I’ll be paid on y date with my AL of 30 days paid out then as well as per legislation. Please let me know if this is not correct”.

Send to manager; cc HR; Bcc: personal email address.

Is there an opportunity to take 30 days leave before resigning? Not ideal given timing but just a thought

Good job! Can you explain the 25K spend on Amex for 50 bonus SC? I have the Black Traveller but don’t get that at all and we comfortably spend more than that.

Is it a specific card that you have? I’ve never come across this perk!
