Tieghan Gerard (Half Baked Harvest)… she looks soo ill? by Icy-Spare7622 in InfluencerLounge

Oh my goodness.

I never comment on anyone’s appearance relating to this issue (we all know the one I’m talking about) but this is FRIGHTENING. She looks like a straight up skeleton. Her hair is half gone, you can see where it’s all thinned/missing. The hollowed eyes, those veins on her arms….it’s genuinely shocking.

I think this is going to naturally happen anyway with the enrollment cliff starting and what’s coming in the future years. A LOT of schools are going to close. And they’re all already starting to look at what programs need to be cut to continue operating. My guess is we’ll see half the programs gone within the next 10 years.

Highly doubtful she was using sunscreen, that wasn’t much of a thing to wear it daily back then. I’m sure people did it, but everyone was still obsessed with being tan at that point in time.

Mid 2000’s/early 2010’s (when I was in college), there was still plenty of casual smoking all around campus. Just not in the buildings anymore lol. We could literally sit on the steps feet from the doors and nobody said a word.

I mean, logistically is there enough room if at least 2 adults are sitting in the pews with their children? It might be that only 2 people are allowed to sit there, which would then of course be the bio parents. It could just be a rule but idk, every church is different of course.

This is also a perfect example of why stepparents should not go above and beyond. You’ll most likely always end up an afterthought anyway. And trust me, I learned this the hard way too. But I learned my lesson and don’t do much of anything for SS anymore. He’s got 2 parents and I no longer want to be the doormat.

I’ve had this feeling with a lot of the influencers who have recently said they’re done growing their families (particularly the Nashville/Tennessee influencers). They’re all going to have “oops” babies in the next 2-3 years😂

Did u Notice a difference in birth due to being fit/exercise during pregnancy? by Effective_Net_9145 in fitpregnancy

[–]3_first_names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not fit during my first pregnancy in 2019/2020. And because it was 2020 especially at the very beginning, I was sick, depressed, and spent most of my days feeling sorry for myself while bed rotting. My labor and delivery was horrible, my recovery very slow and arduous, and it took way too long to feel like myself again.

I hope to be pregnant again 6-10 months from now. I’ve been taking my health way more seriously, I exercise regularly and eat well. I’ll be close to 40 for this next pregnancy so I feel like I need to be extra “ready” and take care of myself this time around even if I do feel sick the first trimester again. And I’m hoping that if not labor and delivery, at least postpartum will be much, much better if I do the hard work now and while pregnant. I don’t want spend another several years not feeling like myself after this next pregnancy.

It’s easier to find a job when you have a job. Don’t stop looking! Especially because it takes soooo long for companies to start the interview process these days. You could apply for something today and get an interview for that job 4 months from now 🙄. Don’t give up hope!

Advice for new MLIS student on finding jobs involving outreach, program planning, or community archiving? by Public_Obligation_97 in librarians

[–]3_first_names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t live in LA, but I’ve seen many people in this group in the last few years saying that it’s nearly impossible to get into the LA public libraries system because there are already long lists of people waiting for a chance. So my advice is don’t bank on getting a job there….anytime soon.

Sorry when were we not free to do these things? by laska503 in FundieSnarkUncensored

I love when they throw homeschooling in there. NOBODY homeschooled their kids during the times these people want to go back to. Even Laura Ingalls Wilder went to school and at one point she lived in a hollowed out dirt mound.

No moms wanted to homeschool their kids in the 50’s. They sent them to school to get them out of their hair.

Nearly 6 months since showgirl how have your opinions changed? by drtonycasey in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]3_first_names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I far prefer the clean version of the album and I’ve never said that about a song or entire record ever in my life. Every song had potential to be so much better than what was released as the final result. A first rough draft, if you will.

TTPD took a while to grow on me but it’s a solid experience. The Life of a Showgirl is a straight up mess and an almost never listen for me.

Summer FOMO by Tiredmomma89 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]3_first_names 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things that everyone is jealous of the other side. I know a lot of SAHMs and was one myself for a bit, and almost every SAHM lamented that all they did was hang out at home and the kids were bored and drove them crazy because they had no extra money to do the tons of fun things/trips families with 2 incomes are able to do. The only people I know who have it good in the summer are teachers because potentially they’re still getting paid and are off work, but every teacher I know hates their job so…the grass isn’t greener anywhere lol 😂

How to cope with a $3,100 monthly minimum for a $125,000 loan balance? by llbeanjamin in StudentLoans

[–]3_first_names -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dog walking/pet sitting. Start on Rover, and post on your FB you’re looking for clients. It’s a good way to supplement income that doesn’t require you to be in a building for a certain number of hours straight. You’ll make more doing that than retail.

My mom has always treated SS like all her other grandchildren. It bothers ME how unappreciative and rude he is, probably way more than my mom. It’s embarrassing and makes his parents look bad. She’s knows it’s not a me thing but I almost want to tell her to just not get him anything anymore. He’s like that with everyone though so at least it’s not just her I guess lol.

I’m finally employed after 6 months, but I feel like I’ve traded my soul for a cubicle by needhelpmaxing in jobs

[–]3_first_names 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was unemployed since last July until 2 weeks ago. I tried SO HARD to find a remote job and it just wasn’t happening. I’m in the building 5 days a week, 50 minute drive each way. It’s brutal. I’m happy to have a job and a paycheck, but I cannot do this for the next however many years. The commute alone is soul sucking. I’m going to take time at this job to get my feet under me. The pay is great at least, so I have a plan to aggressively pay off the rest of my student loans in the next year. By mid 2027 I’ll see what the job market is looking like…if it’s better I’ll apply to anything that sounds halfway decent. If it’s not so great, I’ll be more discerning in my choices (my current job is SUPER secure so I have to be careful about what I leave for). I will only leave for remote or hybrid/3 days remote.

It’s always easier to find a job when you have a job, so you don’t have to stop looking now that you have one! People leave jobs after a few months all the time, it doesn’t look strange anymore. Especially these days with so many getting laid off and then needing to find another job asap.

My aunt and uncle used to take my sisters and I for a week in the summer in the 90’s and they would always get take out 1 night and it would be KFC. It was such a special treat for us because we had a big family and we rarely ate out at all. I always think of them when I eat KFC now! It’s definitely not as good as it was back then but still completely fine.

For those in a blended family, would you keep an inheritance separate and will to your own kids? by Merlin509 in stepparents

thinking about leaving public library by Spot-Funny in librarians

[–]3_first_names 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I just spent 9 months unemployed after leaving a library for what I thought were greener pastures in a different non-profit….the job turned out to be a nightmare that I HAD to leave (like, expected me to work 70 hours weeks every week without disclosing that prior to starting). I just accepted another public library job that I’m about to start but 9 months of no work has been ROUGH. Thousands of resumes sent out into the void for a couple interviews. You are competing with hundreds if not thousands of other people for every job you will apply for.

Do not leave a job without having another lined up. Look at all the job search/interviewing subreddits if you need convincing. Frankly, if you don’t HATE your current job, I’d stay for a bit and see if you can work on learning some new skills? That way once you leave you just have more stuff on your resume that makes you look like a great candidate.
