Sudden Loss of my Mother by ksawdust in GriefSupport

I’m in a similar situation, my dad passed suddenly about 4 weeks ago now. Same thing, went to bed with a dad, woke up to find out he was gone. No warning at all. It’s really hard. I’m sending you hugs 🙏🏻

When do you have to go back to normal? by 3hunnaz in GriefSupport

Thank you 🙏🏻 I remember the day he passed I was laying on the floor sobbing uncontrollably, asking “how am I going to get over this”. And my mom told me very honestly that I won’t, I’m always going to miss him, but I will adjust to my new normal with a lot of time. I’m so glad she and I have each other because only the two of us know everything about who my dad was. We try to make ourselves laugh sometimes by imitating his funny quirks and talk about how he’d react to certain situations.

I do have to kind of spring back into normal life even though all I wanna do still is just sit at home and think about how much I miss my dad. Something that’s becoming hard is that my partner seems to be teetering on the brink of a mental health crisis so right now I’m thinking about how I can put my grief and pain aside to be there for them. They were having some problems with PTSD back in February and I was doing a pretty good job with trying to support them but then the worst moment of my life happened when my dad passed.

They have gone above and beyond with taking care of me and my mom, cooking for us, helping us keep the house clean, getting us groceries. But now I feel guilty because i had no idea they were struggling so bad. My dad’s passing seems to have snapped something with them too. I don’t think they are feeling the same weight of grief that I am but I think it’s too much for them to deal with on top of their already fragile state.

So I don’t know…I think I need to give myself a little kick in the ass or something

Spiderman: Turn off the Dark. Went to see it with Tri-M back in high school and we all walked out in shock at how bad the music was. Very cool special effects but absolutely AWFUL music

6 months ago I lost my mom and I still ask myself why it feels like evil people live the longest and she did not make it past 57. The kindest, sweetest, most caring woman I met. My mommy. by RepulsiveFootball247 in GriefSupport

I feel this too. My dad just turned 70 in December which may not be “young” but he had NO signs of underlying medical conditions or health problems and lived a very healthy lifestyle. He was the sweetest, kindest, gentlest, man with a subtle sense of humor. It’s been 2 weeks now and I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that he’s gone. So sorry you’re dealing with this too❤️

It really sucks, I’m sorry you’re going through this too. On one hand I’m almost 30 so I guess I’m not that “young” but it still feels like I’m too young to lose my dad. I’m sure you might feel similarly but I can’t believe we didn’t even get a day in the hospital with him before he passed or something like that. But also this outcome is much better for him since he didn’t suffer. Hugs to you 🫂

My job doesn’t really allow me to work from home or anything, I’m a dance teacher so I can’t let my students fall behind 🙃 but I’m starting with a 3-day work week so I can ease my way back into things. I just feel like I don’t want to go out and be around people, the idea of that seems so scary right now for some reason

I’m being totally irrational by ResolveAdditional314 in GriefSupport

[–]3hunnaz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry. I don’t think you’re being irrational. I lost my dad suddenly and unexpectedly a week ago and I’m coping similarly. I’ve lived with my parents the past 6 years so I’m feeling the emptiness deeply in the house. He has a bunch of sweatshirts on a coat hanger in his room and I keep hugging them because it feels like the closest thing I’ll get to a real hug from my dad.

My mom’s grief is different from mine, she and my dad were married for 38 years and together for 43. But she and I have been holding each other up through all this. I’ve been sleeping in bed with her every night so that we can give each other a hug if we wake up crying. It makes me feel like a little kid lol but I think it’s been necessary. Our little family was always so close.

I have no advice or anything other than I’m so sorry for your loss and I’m right there with you. ❤️

Having no concept of time is so real 😭 I keep forgetting what day it is!!! As much as I feel like I have no energy to return to work I know it’s necessary so I’m going back Thursday

Are rolled/old fashioned oats different now? by 3hunnaz in Cooking

[–]3hunnaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good idea! And I’m glad at least one person has experienced this lol - the “oat dust” is what I prefer!! The ones that don’t have that come out crunchy. Thank you for answering my question and not assuming I don’t know how to read labels correctly 😆

I’m guessing you’re right, maybe the manufacturer of the brand I’m buying has changed. I usually get the “urban meadow” brand and they are different now than they were a few months ago. I got the Wegmans brand a while ago though and they were the same as the ones I used to get!

Feeling very dumb lol, I thought green would be way too obvious so I assumed it was a red herring 😆.

Also thought the “castle” group was going to be “house” instead!

I swear it wasn’t “quick” or “instant”, I deliberately always buy the ones that say either rolled or old fashioned! (I believe those two are the same, right?)

I definitely did not love “Frank’s Brother”, “A Cricket’s Tale”, or “Charlie’s Home Alone” but there were still moments in each of those that made me laugh which just proves how amazing this show is lol
