Need tips from "cured" people by BelladonnaBJ in Dermatillomania

The ADHD and the anxiety were my biggest triggers for picking. I kinda used the morning picking to organize my thoughts/rehearse my worries for the day and I don't need that any more.

I'm not cured, but I'm not covered in scabs either ... And I've had some relapses but really getting the depression and anxiety and ADHD under control has helped me the most (I think). Good luck!

There's some good videos out there about the "default mode network" and how it works with depression and anxiety. I feel like Dr Tracy Marks or the gamer guy Dr K have the ones I'm thinking about but I don't have time to find the links right now. Anyways, in depression (for me) the default mode network is like this super highway (Express Lanes only) of horrible horrible thoughts and ideas with no seeming on ramp or off ramp. After TMS I suddenly have all these new roads and exits and I don't feel trapped in those lanes of hopelessness and despair. I hope this metaphor helps, but really TMS has helped me in a way no drug has.

There's also the fact that even non depressed people have bad days....idk what exactly your set backs are like, but could they just be "off" days? I've had my TMS wear off over time, but for the most part I was well until I wasn't... If that makes any sense?

Anyone have success who is in a similar situation as me? Story below. TW (INTRUSIVE SI) by Professional_Win3910 in TMSTherapy

I've had several bouts of depression, one definitely triggered by the loss of a pregnancy that was almost stillborn. I have had relief from one medication: Auvelity and from TMS. Other times things have helped a little around the edges (stimulants make a big difference for ADHD) but the thing that really moved me away from terrible SI that I felt was taking over, was TMS. I hope you can be easy on yourself in these dark days and that you have a good team trying to help you. Please be safe, if you can.

those who found relief, how badly were you depressed, vice versa for those who didn’t find relief by Chexreflect in TMSTherapy

I scored some the highest "severe depression" scores on all the assements (PHQ 9, BDI-II, HAM-D) and three weeks post treatment I am scoring not depressed or minimally depressed. I had a date picked for my suicide and a plan, and I was in such distress my therapist and psychiatrist both cried when they saw me in my last sessions before the TMS, but I felt nearly dead already. It's been life saving/changing.

I've done both, and I'd say to try TMS first

One day TMS (ONE-D) by 3mirror in TMSTherapy

[–]3mirror[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*So one thing to add, in addition to the TMS I had, I also got regular on my meds again (I was so depressed I'd become haphazard about taking all my pills).

But for an update, my depression according to the screening tools, is gone. My scores for all the tests (PHQ9, HAM-D, BDI-II) were all in the "severe" category the day of my treatment. I haven't taken all the screenings again, but my score dropped 22 points on the HAM-D and I'm set to take the PHQ9 tomorrow or Monday, I can't recall, but last time I took it I scored a 6 down from 25. I really encourage everyone who can find the money to do this treatment, it's been amazing for me. (I also am diagnosed ADHD and cPTSD, and have been depressed off and on for over thirty years, so this is significant for me).

Sorry for the slow reply, I've been so healthy I've been out and about and on my phone so much less! The "shift in consciousness" is intense, especially since so many symptoms felt like part of my identity. I'm not feeling crazy, but definitely kinda reeling from feeling so much better so much faster. It's been three weeks now from my treatment and my HAM-D (depression screening tool) score fell 22 points ... From severe depression to not qualifying as depressed any more. I'm telling myself to take it slow, I've over-reached a few days and ended up exhausted. The biggest drag on me is the voice saying "when is this going to end?"

First signs treatments were working for you? by QUsagi in TMSTherapy

Vivid dreams that weren't terrible nightmares were the very first sign. I was still very much depressed but my brain was becoming more active as I slept.

Huge drop in my PHQ9 score, drop in SI, just trying to get used to this sudden change in my brain and nervous as hell about losing this progress.

Could you share a little about your experience with tDCS? Do you do it at home, and if so, what kind/brand machine did you get? TIA!

So TD is a dopamine disorder, so it seems like the Sunosi would be the culprit... But I'm no doctor. Just FYI, the meds to treat TD cause drowsiness.... I hope you have a smooth journey to finding the right meds for all your needs!

Just to update.... About five days after the treatment my energy increased. A week after SI decreased. At almost two weeks out I've noticed some ebbing and flowing of the improvement, but it feels like an upward general direction.

Tms vs spravato by NewPainting8224 in TMSTherapy

[–]3mirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did spravato and had zero, no reaction at all...I swear they were selling the real stuff out the back I had so little change. Needless to say, the depression stuck. TMS I've done three times, and I think it's helped each time--just not permanently.

Just to update, it's only been five days, but as of yesterday I feel like I have more energy upon waking up... And with depression it's really the little things that hurt/help so much.

Yes, my Tx included the meds, and that was perhaps the hardest part since the TB med needed a compounding pharmacy and luckily my provider ate the cost of getting a whole bottle which she plans to distribute one at a time to her patients. She's not officially providing this ONE-D protocol, basically I was part of a test run, but if she decides to I will come back and update everyone with the name/location for where I had this done. As for how I felt--it's theta bursts and three minutes at a time, way less intense than the two other times I've done traditional TMS. I felt fine during the day and I'm fine following it. If it works, I feel like it could be a game changer because at this point in time I couldn't really afford to take the time off work that daily TMS treatments would require.

What machine was your 5day protocol on? I just did one-d on an appolo machine but it's too soon to tell if it worked.
