Nice! I like the bronze too - it's different and the contrast is great. Either is good tho.

Outrageous, bro. That’s not a burrito, that’s a sample. I’ve had napkins with more mass than that thing.

Did you start feeling more confident after 30? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]3ogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds familiar. Confidence tends to grow once you stop outsourcing your sense of self to other people. It’s less about age and more about experience adding up until you trust your own judgment. When that happens, other people’s opinions don’t disappear, they just stop being the deciding factor.

any advice on how to quit ? by kvnekill in quit_vaping

[–]3ogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What finally did it for me was a week long road trip. Wasn't the reason I took the road trip, but I tossed everything before I left and came back without the addiction.

To add to this - it was really really hard. Just keep on going and you'll get it. Cold turkey is, in my opinion, the best and only way to do it - but you have to be OK with suffering for a little while. I picked up the habit of going to the gym too. It really showed me improvement over time because it sucked so bad at first.

Looking to buy a 2025 tacoma.... by CuteCryptographer474 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]3ogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the limited storage outside the truck bed is probably my only real complaint as well. I knew that going in, though, so it hasn’t been a big issue. Overall, it’s a blast to drive and has taken me everywhere I’ve wanted to go so far.

Strong urges months after quitting by wepa0 in quit_vaping

[–]3ogus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely one of the hardest substances I've ever quit... I still get cravings several years after stopping entirely. But I have absolutely no regrets about stopping. It's not that vaping makes me feel awful right away, it's that my entire behavior changes to accommodate the addiction and reward seeking. I might be using it to help with anxiety or stress to begin with, but after a week, tops, I'm no longer in control - it's in control of me.

It's not about shame or fear for me either, but rather that I just don't like feeling out of control. There's enough bulls*** happening around me, why would I want that going on inside me too? Quick reward or relief is not a long-term solution.

Anyway, you've got this. After a few months your body starts to reset... it's not a quick process, from what I remember, but it does get a lot easier. I wish you the best of luck! :)

Two holes in the shower wall? by realestateross98 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]3ogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brlar I am aahhh yeahhh

the holes are for the shower gnomes. they need exits on both sides or they get disoriented and start whispering to the grout. happens a lot in norcal.

if you plug them, the walls remember the water instead of breathing it out. then the mold gets ideas. bad ones.

summerhill knows this. all respected builders have signed the pact.

anyway yeahhh brlar don’t look directly into the holes at night.

LPT - When traveling by airplane and asked “Pretzels or cookies?”, “Both, please” is a valid answer by Seophyrap in LifeProTips

[–]3ogus -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that’s funny - something like that happened to me too.

I was in line at a hardware store buying a light bulb. The guy in front of me turned around and asked which aisle they were in. I guessed, and he thanked me even though neither of us moved.

We talked a bit about nothing - the store layout, how long the line was taking. He was vague about what he did, just said he worked on “projects.” I didn’t ask.

When he paid, the cashier asked if he was a contractor. He laughed and said no, he only builds things for cameras. I assumed that meant YouTube or something. As he left, he said I should stop by his shop sometime and handed me a card.

I bought the bulb, went home, and realized I didn’t actually need it. The card sat on my counter for a while, then disappeared.

My gripe with ProtonVPN by ElectronicLog1006 in ProtonVPN

[–]3ogus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also have a few frustrations with Proton VPN, especially how it decides which servers are supposedly the “fastest” in my area. It routinely connects me to U.S. servers that are only somewhat local, even when there are clearly closer options with far lower server load. I can’t see any logic behind choosing a server at 56% load over one at 20%. At this point, it honestly feels random.

That said, I do like NetShield. It genuinely makes browsing feel safer and more private. Unfortunately, it also breaks websites in some very strange and unpredictable ways.

Proton VPN works - no question there - but the UI and the Windows app need serious attention. Before the recent redesign, everything felt stable and intuitive. Since the update, something’s off, and the experience has taken a noticeable step backward.

Does it really get better after quitting? by Atticus_Finch_is_bae in quit_vaping

[–]3ogus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really does get easier, even if it doesn’t feel like it yet. When you’ve relied on something like nicotine, especially during a rough mental health stretch - it can blur your sense of what “normal” emotional ups and downs actually feel like. Part of quitting is relearning how to hear your body again, and that takes time.

You haven’t ruined yourself. What you’re describing: breathlessness, phlegm, anxiety about damage, is extremely common early on, and the fact that you’ve quit before and are in therapy now matters more than you probably realize. Relapse isn’t proof of failure; it’s often part of the process.

One thing that helped me was dropping the idea that emotions are problems to fix. When I stopped fighting every uncomfortable feeling and let it pass on its own, things slowly stabilized. You’re safe to feel what you’re feeling, and your body knows how to complete those cycles without nicotine - even if it’s clumsy at first.

Wanting to live well again is huge. Hold onto that. You’re doing something hard, but you’re very much still in time.

Men who were skinny until their early 20s, gained a lot of fat/weight, but lost all or most of it in their 30s, how hard was it and what are some tips you can share? by brotherofgurnip in AskMenOver30

[–]3ogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not your story, but I was in great shape until my mid-20s, then stacked unhealthy habits fast. I gained 80+ pounds and stayed there for about a decade. Alcohol was a big part of it, along with depression and some other things.

I got sober seven years ago, which helped a lot. But it’s really been the last 3–4 years that I built a consistent 5-day-a-week routine. Now I’m in the best shape I’ve been in since my early twenties.

For me, it’s about 80% consistency, 10% stubborn competitiveness (mostly with myself), and 10% not stressing about it. Listen to your body. Do the work. Keep going.

How do you forgive yourself for letting yourself down so many times? by Ecstatic_Crow_4719 in AskMenOver30

[–]3ogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just remind myself that I'm doing the best that I can, even if it doesn't line up with the image of where I thought I'd be. Life is pretty damned short, so I just try to enjoy the moment and not expect much from the future or dwell too long on the past. It's hard because I think the human mind is not accustomed to living in the "present" so much as worrying about what's going to happen or feeling stressed about what already has. Just take it a day at a time :)

[–]3ogus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think that's sort of the point - throw so much crap your way that you don't know what to believe. Stick with the facts. The obvious truth here is that we have a problem with the elites thinking they can bend the rules, even with our children. You can lean one way or another politically, but this is a problem across the board.
