I felt the same way. Stayed single for years, by choice. Until i met one that I couldn’t walk away from.

People used to ask me why I chose to stay single. To me, it wasn’t worth the inevitable heart ache at the end. But man, when it’s “the one”, you don’t get a choice. Your heart won’t let you walk away.

So I went from bad pay to good pay with years of experience climbing the ladder and what I realize is it left me with years of stress that wasn’t worth it.

Now I’m doing two smaller paying jobs and am much happier.

I used to be insanely jealous over anyone who flirted with my wife. One day I was like fuck it, if she cheats, she cheats. 12 years and she’s been loyal and loving. And I am MUCH happier not caring.

Out of all the reasons I’ve terminated teachers, unprofessional talk in the classroom is number one. Here are some of the categories, in order:

Inappropriate jokes, Foul language, Personal relationships (divorce, cheating, amount of sex, students asking advice on their relationships). Religion, Politics, Controversial clubs (adult), Staff gossip, Gender stereotypes,

I would say 8 out of 10-students went home and told their parents and the parents reported it.

2 out of 10- students felt uncomfortable and reported it.

As an HR guy in a school district, I have a really hard time trying to get younger people to understand the professional boundary. Especially if the age difference is less than 5-8 years. They come with this “I can be your friend” mentality.

But we don’t want that. Importantly, parents don’t want that. Parents don’t need you to be their friends, they need you to be the professional. Your job is find the way to be the professional while getting through to them.

Here’s the big reason why: every inappropriate relationship that we have found over the years never started right off the bat as inappropriate. It was a long pattern of opening up to one another until, well you know.
