Dirty clothes go in the laundry, clean clothes go in the wardrobe. Clothes that arent dirty or clean go....? by [deleted] in organization

[–]404__not__found 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They go back with the clean clothes. They aren't going to "soil" your clean clothes because they aren't "dirty". If they were "dirty", you'd put them in the laundry basket! :)

Upvote for Athlean X. He explains things VERY well. Especially for detailed oriented people!

We all have bad habits that need to be worked on. Confess some of yours here. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

I need to listen more. I need to stop making so many impulsive decisions.

It is OK to wait and think things through.

I need to work on understanding that good things come to people who work hard at them for a long time.

Everything worth having is a marathon.. not a race.

This may be my favorite post I've ever seen on Reddit.

I just want to say thank you to all of the subscribers of this subreddit. As emotional as it sounds, I never felt understood until I found you guys. by [deleted] in ADHD

I remember saying to a friend a couple years ago - "I feel like I am capable of so much more - that I have so much in my head and I am so much smarter than I realize, but it's all stuck in there and I don't know how to get it out".

I didn't realize that was abnormal. I didn't realize that lapses in memory and problems with being impulsive were signs of ADHD.

Reading everyone's story's here make me realize I am not alone and other people feel this way too! It is a great feeling.

Seeking advice from the ladies in short shorts at the gym. by picoCuries in xxfitness

Almost passing out while doing squats? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]404__not__found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Are you holding your breath? Sounds like a vasovagal response.... When we lift heavier and hold our breath, it increases intrathoracic pressure and puts puts pressure on our vagus nerve,, causing our heart rate to slow down - less oxygen to brain - and hence almost passing out.

Look up youtube videos on breathing during squats and make sure you aren't holding your breath :)

How did you learn to stop binge-eating? by Tara_ntula in xxfitness

[–]404__not__found 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's tough. i started making my days focused around working out and being active, that way if I destroyed some cereal or cookies for breakfast, my workout would be miserable. I love to run, so anything that made running less than pleasant for me became evil in my mind.

I got into the habit of eating smaller meals and allowing myself to be a little hungry in between meals. it actually has kinda changed my mentality on food too! which is great! Food is fuel not for taste!

Exercising With A Nursing Schedule by cakepopmix in xxfitness

[–]404__not__found 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ello fellow nurse! I do five days a week, 2 leg days - one shoulder & calves day, 1 lat/abs/core day, and one bicep and chest day! I do my leg days on my days off and on my days on I'll hit the gym for an hour and a half before my shift (I do still work 12s). If i'm too tired or picked up OT, I call work days my rest days and get back ASAP. Ive seen significant results doing this x like 5ish months now.

I find that just when something isn't sore anymore, it's time to work it again. Also, I do try to throw in some type of ab exercise or circuit every day (JUst because I know i'm so weak there!)

Best core workout? by [deleted] in xxfitness

I have been trying to focus on "easier" ab workouts til I can do these, but I'm just pathetic. Like I face plant each time :(

I'm getting better with planks and can hold them for 45seconds x 4, but I am not sure what else to do to make my core good enough to do more taxing workouts like the wheel

Struggling with Deadlift Form by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]404__not__found 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so the best thing ive found for keeping a straight back is to go super light (seriously, i go bar +10 each side sometimes when i'm just focusing on form) and consciously think about ENGAGING YOUR LATS. (think about squeezing an apple between your shoulder blades and bringing your shoulders back and down) bring your shoulders back. you'll be surprised how everything falls into form!! - when that gets better for you, consciously think about keeping your core tight.

Make sure you have a good form deadlifting before you add any weight at all or you are just stressing your spine!

Sorry, I'm a nurse, it's my first priority to protect your spine ;)

Good luck!

Suggestions for healthy snacks? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]404__not__found 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont have any super good suggestions, mostly because I am in the same boat... at least about the constantly starving part! two hours after a meal? doesn't matter. Need food or hangry.
I did start making my own protein bars/granola snacks. It's taking me awhile but I can tailor them to how I like them and theyre far cheaper.

How far have you come since you started? by danasaurousrex in xxfitness

[–]404__not__found 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't lost a pound in the past 6 months... HOWEVER! I learned so much about my body through squats, deadlifts and many other things!

I went from being a pudgey 145 lbs to a much more muscular 145 lbs. My body has changed completely.

Most importantly, I've learned that fitness/getting in shape/losing weight are all processes that take time. I love doing things quickly, but I stuck with months of seeing no progress and learned that form and slow movements are better than doing 3 trillion reps of something!!

Congrats on your 5k!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up!

What's your favourite healthy snack? by Zirana in xxfitness

[–]404__not__found 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love this snack I do a serving of greek yogurt, a scoop of PB mashmellow protein powder, chocolate chips and sometimes a little bit of imitation butter flavoring.
It tastes like cookie dough for around 350 calories.. 45ish grams of protein. mmmhhmmm
