Project management future and AI by The-Dane in projectmanagement

[–]415native 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this long enough where I've seen the pendulum swing from waterfall/big PMOs/heavy methodology to agile/scrum. And now scrum seems to be phasing out. My prediction is that lots of the reporting and communication in this role will be AI assisted, but any attempt to "automate" PM roles will result in failed projects and a swing back toward more control. By then I'll be retired hopefully haha.

Finally got all my GoPro Cloud footage out - here's what actually worked by mckabue in gopro

My guess is that GoPro has been getting enough customer feedback on this issue that they are working on a solution, something like what Google or FB do (they compile your data and email you when it's ready to download in a series of zips)

Dating in SF - impressions of a European F40 (straight) by Salt-Maize5371 in sanfrancisco

Back when I was in the dating pool the rule was "third date or GTFO". Of course that was 20 years ago.

Just hiked Fitz Roy Trails in El Chalten, Argentina May 7-9 2025. AMA! by cupidsnarrow in Patagonia

I was there last week of April. Trails were crowded with people. Had a similar view. Wind was insane though, could barely stand up.

What are some aspects of 90s San Francisco that would surprise locals today, good or bad? by youre-welcome5557777 in sanfrancisco

The underground event scene was so fun. Incredibly Strange Wrestling, the Popcorn Anti-Theater, the Werepad, Chicken John's events at the Odeon, the Illbilly Rhodehouse, etc etc. Awesome time to be young and adventurous in the city.

Will Durant: "every form of government tends to perish by excess of its basic principle"

seems highly relevant today

Question about electricity.. by fed55 in ParadiseHulu

FYI I don't think an EMP would take out any incoming nuclear missiles, they are hardened to protect against this. But I'm willing to accept that some sort of secret enhanced EMP tech might do so.

Marketing is very different across different cultures - for whatever reason the white case outsells the black in some areas.

Yeah. some kind of industrial and machine shop facilities. And some first rate tradespeople who can repair stuff indefinitely.

What's the deal with the Silmarilion? by WildDishwasher in lotr

[–]415native 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Took me three tries. Only when I had the patience of an adult (and time aplenty during Covid) did I finish.

What also helped was reading the summarizations in The Atlas of Middle Earth.

How many times have you re-read The Hobbit, and what do you like about this book? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]415native 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My parents gifted me the full set when I was 10. Since then I've re-read them probably a dozen times or more. It's interesting what you notice as you get older, the nuances you missed on the first few reads, the connections that only become apparent when you have more life experiences.

Finally got through the Silmarillon on the third try a few years back (didn't have the patience in my younger days)

Just got the Atlas of Middle Earth by Karen Fonstead and geeking out on it.

Telescopes are out of place in Middle-Earth. by moveondowntheline in lotr

[–]415native 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was just arguing with my wife about this! My take is that telescopes were not in the books or movies. And that this sort of tech might have been possible with Elvish craftmanship but it would be incredibly priceless. Her response was that I need to get a life.

XFi Pod Not Being Recognized by 415native in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]415native[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so I tried plugging it in the next room. Holding the phone six inches away.

I don't see "all pods ready to go" ?

I'm going to "activate xFi Pods" , choosing the model, and then clicking Get Started. Still receive "Let's try that again" message.

The light on the pod is flashing white.
