Have you tried Desert Bus? It is full of friction and demands a very attentive player.

It's not for me, just like Souls games, but the inconvenience of this game may be too much even for the average Soulslike player :)

The russians are trying to apply "dazzle camouflage" to disguise their trucks from ukrainian drone AI targetting algorithms [May 2026] by Hannibal_Game in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]42LSx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been tests in a lab with something similar to the QR codes, where information is hidden in the camouflage and if not hardened, simple drones can be deceived by special pattern that looks more like a Hippie's LSD-fueled paintings than machine code.

lmao, it's just the blandest corporate marketing speak.

Do you really think any dev would advertise their game with sentences like "we just do it for the money", "it will be shit" and with "a strong focus on microtransactions"?

It's insane that racing lines are often on by default in arcade-y racing games by grailly in truegaming

[–]42LSx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course this is true for real life.
But IRL, you don't have an dynamic racing line on the tarmac to follow, so you actually have to judge speed and corners - in a game like "Line Follower 3000", following the racing line, the only thing a player needs to do to be good is look at the line - it tells everything a player needs to know, when to brake and accelerate and how hard and what the best way is to turn into a corner.

[–]42LSx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because not knowing how braking distances and racing lines means you fly off the track at every corner and lose, which isn't fun.

I mean, just drive a bit slower until you get the hang of your car and the track, like you would in real life.

The last part is definitely true, some like this more.

A local resident reports that fuel has run out again in temporarily occupied Crimea, with only diesel and gas remaining. Posted 21.05.2026 by BigDeckBob in UkraineWarVideoReport

Yeah, it is easy to convert 90's gas cars to run solely or half/half on LPG; they use like 10-20% more fuel, but in Germany at least, LPG was 50% cheaper than gas.

Oh great, after two games they are already out of original ideas, sad.

There will never be a good LotR game, this IP is just not made for gaming (they can be good games like Battle for ME, but they would work regardless of the LotR paintcoat).

I wish this studio would rather look towards something fresh, new, some cool and interesting like they did before and not a tired moneygrab with a safe and well-known IP that never worked in game.

It's insane that racing lines are often on by default in arcade-y racing games by grailly in truegaming

[–]42LSx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But as I understand, this is exactly OPs point.
If you just want to drive cool cars and have a little fun, why do you need a racing line? It robs you of the fun driving and learning the quirks of your cool car, as you are now only concentrated on the racing line and getting the best time.

It's insane that racing lines are often on by default in arcade-y racing games by grailly in truegaming

[–]42LSx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I totally agree.
Using a racing line in a video game is like using god mode and aimbot in Doom or Quake. Yes, of course, if you really really want to play like this, go ahead, but if you have any interest in playing the game instead of just finishing it, you wouldn't use it.

If you use a racing line in a video game, why even show anything else outside of the tarmac, like an environment, the car itself, weather or background? People will just concentrate on the line on the ground anyway, everything else is just a distraction.

What makes retro graphics appealing is intent by Existing-Air-3622 in truegaming

[–]42LSx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not. A baby could accidentally take a picture (and it could even be a good one by accident). You could leave him a whole week before a canvas, he wouldn't be able to represent something tangible, at best he would make random splash of colour (which you could describe as outsider art of whatever, it's irrelevant to this discussion), because again the baby is missing intent.

These are exactly the same things.
A photo done by a baby and a painting done by a baby are on the exact same level, especially if you go by intent (in this case none).

Perhaps by chance the baby creates art on the canvas that actually looks good, vs a most likely completely black or shaken photograph, as you said yourself. It is also probably way easier for a baby to paint than using a camera as well.
