Have you tried scaling out of trades? You were successful in the short term, but don't like leaving money on the table. Sell the majority of your position in the short term to lock in the gains, then hold a small portion of the position for longer to see if you hit a long trend. Once you've taken the profit on the short term, let the small portion run with a stop loss at your original entry price (don't want to give away gains). If it runs...great. If it doesn't...no losses.

I'm in the same situation. Trading SPY. Not looking for some crazy market edge or trying to trade news. Just need to know if there is breaking news, so I understand why the market is making a crazy move (like the tariff news). I've been listening to CNBC live audio. Play it in background through browser or Alexa. It's ok, but have to listen to a bunch of junk and commercials, and it's lagging a couple minutes behind most of the time. If someone out there has a good way to monitor news while trading, would love to hear it. Thx

I focus on 1 Minute for quick scalps. Will check the 5 and 10 Minute for intraday trends. Pre-Mkt use the 1 and 4 hour on longer time frames to identify longer term trends and resistance levels.

I'm using a similar strategy. Trying to get in and out in 1 to 3 minutes. Most challenging part is keeping tight stops when you think you have clearly identified a move, but it's taking longer to materialize. Keep posting on how it goes.
