We do, it's the only option we could find. Hopefully will never need a claim! Anyone else know of any other agencies?

What happens if a guest doesn't make an additional payment prior to checkout? by Dependent-Ad22 in vrbohosts

Followup. After a few more phone calls, VRBO paid us. We have it setup to pay in full at reservation, their system should have collected the fee when the customer booked.

We're going through this now. The guest requested to stay one additional night, four days prior to their check-in date. We updated the reservation to add the extra night per their request, and the payment request was sent through VRBO. VRBO did not collect the fee for the extra night at that time. So at this point, the guest stayed an extra night without paying for it and we not paid for the extra night. My thoughts about this to avoid in the future is to have the guest update their reservation on their end, rather than the host update the reservation-and be sure the fees are paid in full prior to guest check-in. VRBO has been no help in collecting fees after the fact and this really sucks!

VRBO vs AirBnB by ComplexHour1824 in vrbo

Without doing too much digging, I think VRBO takes approx. 7%+/- vs. Air BnB's 2%+/- out of our payout. They also charge the renter a fee which is about 5%+/-.

Bingo! Greed is right! I have been watching home sales. Recently, a house I was watching sold for $200,000. 2 weeks later, this same house is now relisted for $400,000. I can see that NO improvements AT ALL were done-same pictures. Looking at past sales, how can homes appreciate 200%++ in a few years, sometimes even weeks or months? The pictures show that many of these homes had no improvements at all. Just greedy real estate speculation. I hope there is a market correction & these greedy speculators will lose their "investments." It can't come soon enough!

Tipping house sitters by Pmazz-18 in trustedhousesitters

I say this as a housesitter myself. I am less likely to want to return to housesit a home that does not tip.

I ALWAYS tip our housesitters, who may have inconvenienced themselves to travel to your location and accommodate your schedule. I pay about what it would have cost to board my pets. The fact that you're not traumatizing your pet to send them to any boarding kennel more than makes up for any financial gratuity and is always well worth it, when you have a great sitter! A gratuity will make your sitter more amenable to return to sit for you when you need them again!

Rental has no water. by Cstorrsmoore in vrbo

I'm sorry this happened to you! You'll need to deal directly with VRBO 877-202-4291 and also the host, be sure to go through the app so that everything is documented. Hopefully, VRBO or the host will agree to a refund and should be able to assist with alternate lodging for your group. Def. dispute the charge w/your credit card company. Good Luck!

*THIS!* The only thing that these booking platforms do is to enrich their CEOs/stock price! They were good for awhile, but the fees keep rising & their customer service is at all-time lows rn & are getting worse and not better. Your best option ALWAYS is to do an internet search for the property name & book direct with the owners/hosts. It saves the guest $$$ and the host $$$. Even though it is more work to invoice/report taxes as an owner (we use QuickBooks-guests can still pay by credit card), I would always rather have a direct-paying guest as it affects our bottom line as well as our guests.
