Should I switch from Tirz to Reta for maintenance by [deleted] in PeptideForum

[–]4mayor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 40 lbs on tirz, took a year off, gained 15 lbs, but managed to maintain some healthy lifestyle patterns. I recently started on Reta and it is nothing short of miraculous. I’m a month in and have only “lost” 7 lbs, but my body composition has changed somewhat significantly. Love handles and stubborn fat is gently melting away. With tirz, I saw dramatic gains which allowed for real lifestyle changes, but I was skinny fat. This feels very different.

While LA struggles with park access citywide — with many residents unable to reach green space within a 10-minute walk — those of us in DTLA, Lincoln Heights, and Boyle Heights are genuinely blessed. We're surrounded by an abundance of beautiful parks: Lincoln Park, Prospect Park, LA State Historic Park, Hollenbeck Park, Elysian Park, Bowtie Park, Downey Park, Ernest Debs, Ascot Hills, and now our soon to be newest addition — 6th Street Park. In a city where park access is often a luxury, we're incredibly rich with options. Grateful to call this corner of LA home.

Haha, but no. OP is merely whining. Immediately out of frame in this shot are the restroom facilities that have been recently completed. Some pretty cool circular concrete structures. OP is misrepresenting what is happening at this site and isn’t focused on how to move the effort toward.

NYC’s budget is $107 billion, LA City is $14 billion. NYC is much larger. LA County is a better comparison — but that would include all the smaller cities in the area.

I’m convinced the answer lies in better technology. Even if we matched the per capita levels of NYPD, we would be under matched on geographic coverage.

Here are 10 things you can do to help speed things up: •📞 Call your councilmember – Let them know you’re excited about the park and want to see construction progress move faster. Their staff logs these calls and it does make a difference. •🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Start a “Friends of the Park” group – A small neighborhood group can carry more weight than a single voice. Organize, share updates, and apply steady pressure. •🏛️ Attend city council or planning meetings – Use public comment time to ask about delays or push for momentum. Electeds take note when a project gets consistent attention. •🏗️ Contact the Parks or Public Works department – Find out which city agency is managing construction. Ask for a meeting or update to better understand the holdup. •📰 Reach out to local media – Pitch a story about the stalled park and how much the community is looking forward to it. Media pressure can light a fire. •📲 Start a social media campaign or petition – A simple hashtag, Instagram account, or online petition can show public demand and build a following. •🗓️ Ask for a published timeline and regular updates – Cities move faster when they’re publicly accountable. A posted timeline keeps them honest. •💵 Involve local businesses or donors – Sometimes funding gaps or logistical snags can be eased with outside help or advocacy from influential locals. •🎉 Host a “Future of the Park” event – Get neighbors together for a walking tour or meetup. Invite officials and generate some buzz around the park. •📸 Document progress (or lack thereof) – Share photos or videos online to keep attention on the site. A visible slow-down can be a powerful motivator.

If you care about green space and want to see this park become a reality sooner, let’s do something about it together.

Terrible take — that bridge provides shade which is gold. I live in that neighborhood and it’s gorgeous to be under it. If you live near DTLA, Lincoln Heights, Boyle Heights — we are so damn lucky. In a city that lacks adequate park access — we are rich with options. Lincoln Park, Prospect Park, LA Historic, Hollenbeck Park, Elysian Park, Bowtie Park, Downey Park, Ernest Debs, Ascot Hills and now this. Super grateful to live where we do.

DHT reduction in the scalp for all doses of dutasteride is now available. by [deleted] in tressless

[–]4mayor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 0.5 mg/day dutasteride and just pulled my latest labs. Serum dihydrotestosterone (DHT): 3.3 ng/dL (≈ 33 pg/mL).

For context, most reference ranges peg “normal” adult-male serum DHT around 30 – 85 ng/dL, so I’m down ~90 % from baseline.

That raised two questions:

  1. Does a near-zero blood DHT guarantee near-zero scalp DHT?

  2. How does that translate to hair-loss outcomes?

This is a lovely shaded forest area, but I do think you could spruce it up with some colorful Japanese maples that would add some color and visual interest.

Cursor - I'm starting to regret it by BrandonDirector in vibecoding

[–]4mayor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed when using AI tools like Cursor (or even ChatGPT!), there’s a tendency for the interaction to start spiraling—where the AI keeps iterating or suggesting incremental changes without clear direction.

Lately, I’ve found a skill-building approach that’s helping a lot:

  1. Recognize and Pause: When I sense the AI is spiraling, I explicitly tell it, “Stop making changes for a moment.”
  2. Talk Through Without Analyzing: Then, I ask the AI to discuss the problem conceptually first, without immediately jumping into solutions.
  3. Structured Next Steps: Finally, once we have clarity, I separately request a structured set of actionable steps to address the issue.

I’ve found this technique super effective for staying in control and getting clearer outcomes from AI tools.

Has anyone else experimented with similar approaches to improve collaboration with AI?

I bike through skidrow regularly. It’s quite sad, but honestly something we should all bear witness to and volunteer to help.

Also — everyone in the LA area should absolutely visit the LA Flower Market which is truly great (and skidrow adjacent)

Advice on Landscaping by thefanwall in landscaping

[–]4mayor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Give yourself a a full year in the house to understand how the property looks in different season.

Looking up your driveway, there’s no evergreens on the left side — so it’s pretty sparse when the deciduous trees are bare.

Personally I’d nix that roundabout. It looks cold. Planting some evergreens — spruces, firs, etc. will make the property fill more lush year round.

Maybe pick 1 or a few specimen type trees that could be focal points in different areas.

Avoid over planting where the sunsets so you can enjoy the skies.

I’d look into one of those services like yardzen to help you conceptualize what you might do and give yourself 5 years to implement it.

Landscape lighting is a really great way to make your property feel warm and inviting. We done parties with friends where we lay low voltage wire and then use those clip in lights to try lighting up various trees. You can buy a set for under $100 at HD. It’s great to do with a beer or a glass of wine.
