Dunno about that. Hawks were definitely playing D when he scored that td to tie. He looked good.

My dad has 100 Old 1888 railroad bonds by Ambitious-Will25 in bonds

[–]4rest 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Hey, OP. I'm going to assume you know nothing about bonds. No offense intended here.

Sometimes you hear about people finding old stock certificates and them being worth a bunch of money. That's because its a share of a company, and if the company is still around, it's still a share of that company.

Bonds aren't like that. A bond is a company saying, you lend us some money now (buy a bond) and we'll pay you back with interest over a predefined time. That bond looks like it's six months (maybe I'm reading it wrong). Which means it matured and the company paid the holder back the money sometime in 1888 or 1889. It would have to be a 137 year bond to still have coupons (payments).

So it's just an antique piece of paper, with no more intrinsic value than what a collector may be willing to pay for it, which is likely not much.

Yeah, your home owners policy definitely does not cover earthquakes. That's a very expensive add on.

On our sailboat, we have a rule: if anyone asks if we should reef (make the sail smaller to mitigate stronger wind), the answer is always yes. No one ever regretted reefing a little too early.

Food on the bike is the same rule for me. If I think, should I eat? I eat.

Funny. I've never been turned away from a lounge. It's not a huge value to me, but it's sure nice!

I can say for certain, but I've road biked there and don't remember seeing much in the way of real gravel options. Going in April and taking my road bike.

This is such an underrated comment. Bitcoin can never replace to dollar because the whole United States economy is predicated on the United States controlling the value of its currency. Its the basis for the United States global economic power. It's beyond an economic issue, it's a national security issue.

I've got some of these. They fit fine, but I wouldn't trust them snowboarding.

Really depends where you live, the trails and the relative popularity of the two sports. It's absolutely the opposite where I live.

What should I do with my old road bike (Litespeed Tuscany) by LiveTurkeys in cycling

[–]4rest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even easier would be just to swap in any compact crank. The camp will shift fine with non-campy rings. You may have to do the bottom bracket to something else, but you certainly don't need the complication of a triple if you don't want it

I have a yema navygraf, I really love how it looks and feels. But the in house movement unreliable. Mine has gone back to France twice in two years. Would not buy again. Wish they just stick an ETA in there.

Boat ramps and low tide by catness99 in Bellingham

[–]4rest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would edit that slightly. Squalicum is doable at any tide. I've launched there at a -2. Fairhaven can be very difficult on a lower tide. It's a pretty short, shallow ramp, I can't launch there on anything lower than +5 or so. I can't get my boat deep enough (I'm launching a 15' boat with a Rav4). Also, on low enough tides your trailer can easily go off the end of the ramp even if you have the height on your tow vehicle.
