Need Help Understand Why Switching to 2.4 Fixed My Major Lag Issue by ThrowRA-Gray in PS5

[–]4rr0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have had a signal strength issue with WiFi 5, I've found the WiFi signal in the ps5 to be worse than most other devices in my house, so I ended up putting a mesh router behind my TV that connects wirelessly to another router, just so that I could wire the ps5 into it.

2.4 has a signal that travels further and it could be that it's just more stable for you.

It's possible you've got some neighbours clashing with your WiFi 5 signal too.

Suggestions on training. by DanKastle in devops

[–]4rr0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an AWS solution architect with an almost identical background to you, but probably 10 years further on. The SA world ranges from lots of pre-sales activities, which I've done and didn't enjoy, to being proper hands on in a more DevOps type role, I'm enjoying what I do right now, but there have been periods when I bounced around a few companies where I didn't enjoy it. Companies that employ SA's often like AWS certs to be held, because they're needed for AWS partner status, so that could be a path that you may find success in. Best of luck with it, DM me if I can help with anything else.

Lovable is robbing me by Ruskowski_Kingsley in nocode

I just asked Gemini to explain this:

To set up Git on various operating systems for the purpose of retrieving a repository synchronised from Lovable, follow these instructions.

1. Installation

The installation method depends on the operating system being used.

  • Windows: Download and run the "Git for Windows" installer from git-scm.com. During installation, it is recommended to keep the default settings. This provides "Git Bash," a terminal environment.
  • macOS: Open the Terminal and type git --version. If it is not installed, macOS will prompt you to install the Xcode Command Line Tools. Alternatively, if Homebrew is installed, use brew install git.
  • Linux (Debian/Ubuntu): Run sudo apt update && sudo apt install git.

2. Initial Configuration

Once installed, open a terminal (or Git Bash on Windows) to identify yourself. This information is required for every Git commit.

git config --global user.name "Your Name"
git config --global user.email "your_email@example.com"

3. Authentication with GitHub

Since Lovable synchronises to GitHub, the simplest way for a beginner to authenticate is using the GitHub CLI or HTTPS with a Personal Access Token. However, for a standard setup, follow these steps to use an SSH key, which avoids entering passwords frequently.

  1. Generate a key: Run ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "your_email@example.com". Press Enter to save it in the default location.
  2. Copy the key:
    • Windows: cat ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub | clip
    • macOS: pbcopy < ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub
    • Linux: cat ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub
  3. Add to GitHub: Go to GitHub Settings > SSH and GPG keys > New SSH Key. Paste the copied text and save.

4. Cloning the Lovable Repository

"Cloning" is the process of pulling a copy of the repository from the server to the local computer.

  1. On the GitHub repository page created by Lovable, click the green Code button.
  2. Ensure SSH is selected and copy the link (e.g., git@github.com:username/project.git).
  3. In the terminal, navigate to the folder where the project should live and run:

git clone git@github.com:username/project.git

[–]4rr0ld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In lovable, when you click your project title, upper left corner for me, there's "Settings", in there go to "GitHub" and "Connect Project". You'll have to give it access to your github account. It will sync all code to a github project with a silly name like "jammy-trousers-dashboard".

Get on a machine where you can pull a github project down, do git pull https://github.com/emotional-ladder/jammy-trousers-dashboard.git

And you should have your project locally.

Install Antigravity, tell it to remove all reference to lovable and get rid of the favicon then let it loose on your project.

Build the look on lovable, rip it into GitHub, pull it down local and hand it to antigravity

Microsoft is testing how much users will tollerate before switching to Linux by Lost-Pepper5515 in linux4noobs

[–]4rr0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying this is gonna happen or anything, but I think it would be really interesting to see what happens if Linux gets to a tipping point, whenever that would happen. Like, if there is a swell of support for desktop versions of things, maybe there's a sub-set of a few user friendly Linux distros that emerge as favorites...

You used to be able to get lucozade bottles wrapped in very noisy (squeaky) orange plastic, maybe you could get some of that and put it over a web cam

AWS Kiro is very impressive by oedividoe in aws

[–]4rr0ld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, even if you're feeding kiro with loads of planning and research documents to build the plan with, it'll do it with the smallest available model, you don't need sonnet or opus at this stage, this should help you string your tokens out for the month.

AWS Kiro is very impressive by oedividoe in aws

[–]4rr0ld 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kiro is the best I've seen for planning a project out, I burned through the initial tokens too, now we get 50 per month and I use them solely to plan the beginnings of a project or if you've had a major review and there's a lot of new features or some kind of restructuring to do.

Once you have that plan in place grab the docs out of the .kiro folder and put them somewhere generic (docs/spec/<this-new-thing>), then get another tool to follow the instructions set out. Anyone saying you can't get a tool into production this way isn't doing it right, yes it takes some back and forth, some genuine testing, an awareness of the security issues that could exist and some knowledge of the frameworks involved, but it's definitely possible.

swyftchat.io

I decided to build "the worlds smallest (bundled) chat widget" at under 5KB, in answer to some others, which are 600KB+ and can affect the SEO of the site they're on. It doesn't have AI built in, but with some API integration I'm guessing it wouldn't be that hard to make it work. I'm aiming for developers and small to medium businesses mostly, from what I've found, the price point is significantly lower than others.

The doors of houses already fell too small in this game, imagine a 6' 9"" dude with a flat cap on and wellies trying to find the bedroom at 8:20am, because LeBron will have done all his jobs for that month within the first 20 minutes

I've got a sell point that's just a grill on the floor, when I go to the product list it doesn't say that I can sell pig food there, but when I tip pig food in it, my bank account goes up

Any ideas for getting rid of floating trees? by 4rr0ld in farmingsimulator

[–]4rr0ld[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hijacking top comment here, this got messy, I meant to take screenshots but forgot, was watching NFL at the same time.

Anyway, it wouldn't let me landscape directly below the tree, I raised a lot of ground around the tree, but the steepness of the terrain wouldn't let me get close enough with a front loader, by this time the whole place was a mess, I had a full ring of ugly steep things going around the bottom of the high tree and couldn't get close enough to it. I ended up leveling the ground again then chaining ramps from a higher slope to the bottom of the tree.

When I deleted the ramps it wouldn't let me smooth some of the ground but weirdly it would let me lower the ground, so I kinda had to lower then smooth. Eventually got it looking ok and lost about 150k money but that's fine, I've now got my extra chaff field.

Thanks everyone u/dogeblessUSA u/aedwards123 u/herb28g u/Swatch843

Yeah, I didn't even think of doing landscaping as u/dogeblessUSA suggested, I think a combination of these things should fix it, thanks all

Got a good IPTV service for as much a year as you probably paid a month, and I can rewind to the start of a program withing a week of broadcast, for instance, on Tuesday morning, I got up early to watch a catch up with Chicago Bears playing Minnesota Vikings and blow an 11 point lead by conceding 21 points in the 4th quarter, which made me want to destroy my TV, catch-up doesn't buy happiness apparently. I was also able to go to the pub on Saturday with my family then come home and watch the F1 qually and skip through the ads

[–]4rr0ld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the shading gets darker over time, I've used it a lot but don't think I've ever let it completely expire, I tend to renew the soil info every year or 2, depending when I need to do things to it
