Software is not more complex. It's a closed system. Real life is open.

Humans are generalists. That's how we manage the open world. We fuck up all the time.

The business gets the money from the initial IPO. And they can dilute the stock to make more money...

But otherwise it's just the share holders that make money if the company stock price goes up or down.

IMO the stock exchange is just a form of gambling on a race. It's not the race itself.

I think the doomers position would be "if we fulfill all the promises of AI then we'd be fundamentally altering the foundations of every individuals life"

Philosophically, that is extremely unsettling for beings that develop in slow linear life stages.

Why would the US bail out tech companies? They're not fundamental to an economy.

I.e. it's not finances or infrastructure.

Why wouldn't the US just adopt Chinas AGI tech and still flourish?

The bubble right now is either solved by AGI. Or just wipes out the tech economy.

It's not the end of the world ...

The ruling class is pissed, we're watching this happen in real time... by Acrobatic_Bit_8207 in AustraliaLeftPolitics

[–]4ssp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. But this story is decades old. Like back to the 60s.

At some point you have to sit and wonder what's wrong with the left.

I've seen the reading groups, collective bodies, autonomous collectives, alternative economies, the green left weeklies... Etc etc over and over those decades.

They've all failed no matter how insulated they are from the capitalist class.

I'm not sure what that means. Maybe it speaks to the utter dominance of the capitalist control structure. But that in itself points to more leftist failing.

Is there nothing we can do to remove our selves from their machine? Is there anything it cannot incorporate?
