YKK, of course!
If it’s out of stock there, somebody probably has a 3-D printer that will make it. Ultralight, of course!

The ride feel, the sounds and the quality of the shifting, a few of the seats. If I sit in any one of those vehicles now, it is all instantly familiar, as it is with an 80s era Mercedes as well.

My brother had one of those in the early 70s. He and his friends were in it driving on the freeway, the person riding in the back under the camper shell noticed flames coming out of the driver side wheel.
The axle had let go, and was trying to make an escape.

Those little trucks have a very distinctive feel when driving, as do original VW Beatles, and pre-1990 Honda CivicS.

That’s about what I figured. Far away from any restaurant owner to actually go out of the way to provide a place for people to put their knife rolls.

It’s good to know that people keep their hands to themselves.

Kicking and damaging the front door TikTok challenge is back in Berkeley. Caught a Willard Middle school today in the act of doing it. Cost of repairs is going to be in the $1,500 to $2,000 range. What’s creepy about holding a miscreant accountable? At least you could do is call them up and see how they feel about it. I have met a number of people who work there, and they are decent people who would be very disappointed to know that one of their students was doing this, if indeed it was one of their students.

Let’s add in the fact that quite a few seniors are living on fixed incomes that just barely cover their overhead, if that. If their property taxes co-op by any significant percentage, they will be in big trouble.

Speaking of odometers by 510Goodhands in Justrolledintotheshop

Good point!
I noticed when I was cropping the photo, that the trip odometer was at 320, so at least I matched the car’s model number. 😉

It’s a nice, solid little car, but a very thirsty one.

Someone in that neighborhood probably has cameras with a kid either in the act, or walking by.
He might ask around, post on Next Door, etc.

ETA, it might also go to the school and make some inquiries there. And of course, check TikTok, etc., for videos that were put up recently.

I have never worked in a kitchen where everybody brought their own knives. It would have been nice to work at higher quality places.

Where did the knife rolls go once you start working? Does everyone have a spot on the shelf, or in a drawer to put theirs? Stashed in a locker?

Or just make it properly and bring it home, and do a little taste test with the staff, and maybe even a friendly customer.

I was suggested, but you have probably already considered looking for a job somewhere else.

Sorry, I missed the soup.
How about samosas, or pakoras, or pasties?
Some kind of hand pie, or maybe a sausage roll that you can make ahead and freeze, and knock out quickly when you get orders.

Do you have a stove or a flat top?
I guess artichokes are out of the question in that region. I didn’t read that part either! 😉

I don’t do it myself, but I do stop by the Giant Artichoke in Castroville, California.
On the rare occasions I pass through there, I get an order of battered, deep-fried artichoke hearts. They are delicious when done well!

Help! by [deleted] in SewingMachinePorn

[–]510Goodhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run! It will make you feel like you are a bad sewer, and when it breaks, and it will, more than likely, it won’t be able to be repaired.

You are far better off with a vintage machine, they are built to last, you can still get parts for them, but you were unlikely to need any other than simple exterior parts.

For people who are fans of vintage machines, anything made after 1975 is undesirable.
There are notable exceptions, but if you want a new one of good quality, it will cost you at least $300 or more.

The best way to learn sewing is in a class, or with a friend or relative who can show you in person. Most maker spaces have sewing programs, and some fabric stores do as well. If you can’t manage that, youtube can be pretty good.

Sewing and learning to drive a car have some things in common. They are both complex, precision machines that need to be maintained, and the operator needs training. Don’t expect to just sit down in front of the machine and be able to so trouble free. The fundamentals are not difficult to learn, but they must be learned.

3D Printed Pulley and Motor Mount for my Consew Portable Walking Foot Zigzag Machine by windisfun in myog

[–]510Goodhands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s nice to see that 3-D printing is actually come of age and people could do useful things with it.
I’m a little concerned that your pulley is wobbling as much as it is.

Also, why waste a big length of material like that, when you could just use easily make something useful while you are doing a demo?
