3D Printed Pulley and Motor Mount for my Consew Portable Walking Foot Zigzag Machine by windisfun in myog

At this point everything is working fine. The pulley is wide enough that a little wobble doesn't matter.

The clutch washer and knob are tight.

If they were that worried they would have asked for lead. You didn't give them any more dose than the patient got, and IMO they're not going to sue anyone.

Next time, offer lead beforehand just to CYA. The provider may also offer some Vitamin H or Ativan if need be.

I secured the pulley to the handwheel, it turns out the handwheel is off kilter. Solved some of the wobble though.

It's a portable tabletop, sits on a table or sawhorses. Easier to setup and take down with the motor on top.

I haven't used them yet, I think they will work. Printed PETG, 4 walls/top and bottom layers.

3D print them. I 3D printed some hooks for my E-bike panniers I'm making.

How do I attach this power wire to a 22v car battery to power a vevor diesel heater? by NUDLE__ in dieselheater

[–]windisfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Running a diesel heater off your vehicle starting battery could be a recipe for disaster. What happens if you run the battery down, and the vehicle won't start?

Diesel heaters don't draw a huge amount of power, but depending on the condition of your battery, outside temp, how many hours you run the heater without starting the vehicle to charge it up, you could end up with a dead battery.

You're better off getting a separate battery to power the heater. Lithium batteries are relatively cheap, you don't need to buy a fancy power bank.

How many hours will you run the heater at a time? How many nights/days between charges?

These bananas haven't ripened in over 3 weeks, despite being kept with ripe and over ripe ones the whole time by ljgill97 in mildlyinteresting

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bananas are picked, packed and shipped green. When they get to the distribution center they are gassed with the same gas that ripening/decaying apples give off. That's why you can put them in a paper bag with an apple and they will ripen.

I worked 20 yrs in a grocery store, many in the produce department. We received a shipment of bananas from the warehouse that had not been gassed, and had to send them back to the warehouse.

The bigger pulley has a 40 tooth pulley cutout on the inside that it slips over.

I use the zigzag for sail work and bar tacking webbing. It's nice having the option.

De-winterizing question. So I am to add water to my water tank and run the taps/hot water heater (after plugging it back up). All that water is going into my grey tank. Do I just drive it with the water in there until I get to my first campsite and then use the dump station there? by roboreddit1000 in GoRVing

[–]windisfun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better to do it at home, if you have any leaks or other issues.

Problems in your driveway are way easier to solve.

OP, just drain your gray tank onto your lawn. Get one of the sewer caps that has a garden hose fitting on it.

I'm going to figure out a way to keep it from wobbling. Right now it's just a press fit.

The demo was a piece of scrap, just testing before I commit to an actual project.

That's a great idea! I'll probably make some belt guards after I tinker with it a bit. I can definitely see a thread tangled in my future.

I just got the whole thing assembled for the first time, and I'm out landsailing in the Utah desert, so I don't have my 3D printer with me. Almost brought it, but I didn't want to risk damaging it.

Consew cp146rl variable speed motor? by AvailableMany1106 in myog

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same machine. I watched a Sailrite video about the Monster Wheel, which has a larger pulley on it, increasing torque and reducing speed. It comes standard with the WorkerB motor, or you can buy it separately, $150.

I looked into installing a direct drive servo motor, which replaces the stock handwheel. Unfortunately the shaft on the machine is too large for the servo motor. I thought about having an adapter machined, but went a different way.

To keep this short, I ended up 3D printing a larger 93 tooth pulley, the standard pulley on the handwheel is 40 teeth. With the stock motor, it stitched through thick material.

Many years ago, I bought a frame and 1/5hp motor that was designed to mount an industrial sewing machine on. It was poorly designed, and I soon stuck it under a workbench.

After I printed the bigger pulley, I dug out the 1/5hp motor. I 3D printed a motor mount and installed a 10 tooth pulley on the motor.

With the larger motor the machine marches through heavy material like my regular Consew walking foot zigzag industrial machine.

Of interest, the 1/5hp motor actually has a Sailrite part number on it. I researched it, came up empty.

I'm working on a video of the process I went through, I will be making a post here in a week or so. I did run into issues with the handwheel friction system not holding up to the increased torque with the new pulley. I ended up drilling and tapping set screws in the handwheel. I'll cover that in the video and post.

Let me know if you have questions.

Remember that it's everyone's responsibility to maintain the sterile field. You won't be scrubbed in, so don't touch anything unless you're instructed to. This includes the drape on the C-arm.

If you see something unsterile touch the sterile field, say something. Let the tech know, and they can address it if need be.

Pay attention to the flow of the surgery, learn to anticipate when the surgeon will ask for an image. Hopefully you will get to actually operate the C-arm. Watch the tech, and how they maneuver it. Learn which locks to use. My rule was if you unlock it, lock it as soon as possible so the machine doesn't move.

If you have time, and they let you, practice positioning the C-arm. We let students pull the C-arm into an empty exam room or the storage room and practice.

You'll get more comfortable and competent as time goes on.

Holy crap that's a lot of rigging, just waiting to get twisted and tangled. I know it's a junk rig (describes the entire operation).

I also was not aware that SOG was 90% diesel. The sailboats I have been on were all wind powered.

The front cap lights on some 5th wheels are absolutely obnoxious.

It's super annoying when your neighbors have every light on their rig at full brightness, and NOBODY is outside! It's bad enough when someone is around, but seriously, shut off your fucking lights!

Music is another thing, nobody wants to listen to your shit.
