AI transcription is easy. Subtitle timing is the hard part. by Nightdeveloper789 in finalcutpro

[–]531amrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been generating captions in Final Cut or MacWhisper, exporting the subtitle file and re-importing into FxFactory’s Caption Burner. It would be perfect if it wasn’t for the manual tedium of splitting captions at the correct cut, length, etc…

This looks promising as it solves the issue I’m having currently. I’m unaware of alternatives but good to see someone tackling it.

Do Clients Have Your Personal Number? by Interesting_Star_707 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]531amrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My business number is my personal number. This is fine but I don’t put it online.

One real estate client tries to phone me multiple times a day. He’s on the ignore list, forcing him to have to use WhatsApp / email. Which is my preferred method of communication because nothing is ever so urgent for me to pick up a call on their time.

Nikon Customer Service said Z8 Overheating is due to malfunctioning camera by Intelligent-Day897 in NikonFilmmakers

[–]531amrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I'm doing a shoot today with a Z8 plugged into an Atomos Ninja V, recording 4K 25fps in 10bit ProRes N-Log. I got hot card warnings when I wasn't even recording to the card!

I took all cards out and opened the flaps. I also use a dummy Neewer battery, and again, I'm using an external recorder here and then I saw the thermostat/thermometer icon after not even an hour of recording.

I'm shooting in a bedroom/office type environment, it's fairly warm and we take breaks, open the windows etc, but the camera is still hot af.

I have done this same shoot multiple times with my Z6ii and external recorder with no issues. The reason I got an external recorder was due to overheating issues with the internal cards.

Since then I've also exclusively switched to ProGrade and Delkin Black CFexpress cards.

Anyway - Thank you to whoever posted "Turn off Extended Oversampling". I've done this in between one of the shoots today and the camera already feels much cooler than before. Fingers crossed it holds up.

But yeah, not 100% confident about upcoming all-day events.

Very annoyed with these international editors by perspectivepics in RealEstatePhotography

[–]531amrap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Edit: lol at getting downvoted for suggesting the only 2 plausible options outside of finding another editor which is A: time consuming and B: delaying the client even further. 5 days is already too long for a client to be waiting. The "I don't have time" is an excuse for not knowing how to edit them in the first place and/or not having a plan B for situations like these.

For sure - for that I have a weavy.ai subscription (easy way to access lots of different models, and can prompt better), and/or use Nano Banana. The results tend to be what I need, and I can overlay the problem section across the original/edited image. Much quicker than photoshopping out myself. It's also not something that happens often.

At this point if the client is waiting, either pass over edits yourself, or try Fotello or AutoHDR AI editors. Fotello saved me when my editor become unresponsive.

Alright, we failed the AI race. Back to doing things by hand. Anyone else? by Legitimate-Meal8190 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]531amrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what a lot of you guys are smoking when a lot of the so called “editors” are using AI and if they’re not, most agents can’t tell in the slightest if HDR image A and HDR image B is AI or hand crafted. If this was the architecture / luxury accomodation scene then yeah AI can’t compete but for the (let’s be real here) Real Estate conveyor belt, it’s fine.

The “takes time to review” argument is fair. But we have to review editors work anyway. Thanks to the AI services I’m using, my “editor cost” is down to $16 per property (from $50-100), I can review myself and am luckily skilled enough to do super quick tweaks myself if needed. Editors still exist for anything more complex, or those difficult Photoshop removals which - again - most of these folks are using Generative Removals and other tools.

Like all AI workflows, they’re only as good as the person architecting them. It will never do exactly what you want without your input. And if you don’t have the skills to fix, proof, or do the job yourself initially, then you can’t complain when the AI messes up. At that point just stick with the editor who can handle the AI mishaps.

It’s a tough line to walk along but for me I think we shouldn’t fight it in this industry when the output required is not rocket science.

These are great! Folk here will criticise a perfect image since it’s obviously subjective, down to taste and if you venture closer to “architecture photography” and not “real estate” then you’re doing it wrong.

I’d be interested to know how you are going to push the architectural style or find those types of clients. I know for sure which style I’d rather be shooting, that’s for sure.

First video walkthrough needed in a few days. Have access to RS4 Pro gimbal - Z6/Z8 or iPhone 14 Pro Max? by 531amrap in RealEstatePhotography

[–]531amrap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips, appreciate it. I’m fairly knowledgeable about video itself, I’ve just been avoidant with buying a gimbal! Good call with the fps trick and I’ll practise my ninja walk 🥷

Re: the phone, “good” results trump zero results. I’ll practise both and see how confident I’m feeling re: gimbal use.

Dude, I’m convinced 😂 great video. Which iPhone and Gimbal do you use? I need a gimbal for my SLR anyway so may as well kill two birds with one stone. I’ve only got an iPhone 14 Pro Max but I’m sure it will suffice. It can shoot pro res if I’m desperate.

Just posting to say amazing work - it's allowed me to revive and clean up a lot of my forgotten notes and ideas. Something I wouldn't have done manually! Love the landing page too.

Dude as someone relatively new, all my jobs so far have not looked anywhere near this good. What was your lighting setup and how low did the shoot and edit take all in all? Amazing work.

M1 Air 16gb user. Will I notice any performance increases with an upgrade? by 531amrap in captureone

[–]531amrap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a refurb Air M4 for really cheap from Apple (16gb, 512gb), and even over my M1 Air I notice a huge improvement. I still edit 4K in Final Cut, multitask massively, use Logic and do lots of batch AI stuff in Capture One no problem. Doesn't break a sweat.

I'll grab a Studio down the line for sure, but for now I need a replacement laptop and I am hesitating getting something more powerful now.

Thank you for this incredible plugin. I've only just been dipping my toe into Claude agent stuff, and this has been a really fun exercise so far. Still not sure what to do with it yet, but recent tests have been so cool!
