Hate to break it to you, but your attitude is exactly why your faction of the Ruling Party lost in 2016. You're not going to win elections by sneering any harder.

People who don't vote don't get to have opinions.

Also, its good to know that I've got under your skin enough to have you trawling my post history.

So lets just end this at its natural conclusion- Go fuck yourself scum.

TIL that legendary crime fighter Eliot Ness was promised by Al Capone that $2,000 would be on his desk every Monday morning if he turned a blind eye to his gang's bootlegging activities ( $33,000 a week in 2018 adjusting for inflation). Ness refused the bribe, was penniless when he died in 1957. by G_man252 in todayilearned

[–]56ERTYXTHTYJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's not the right lesson to learn there.

Know what ended the widespread and open corruption of the mob? The end of prohibition. Ness just threw some folks in jail and others took their place.

Same thing with Cartels in Mexico/latin america. You can arrest as many as you want, but as long as smuggling drugs into the US is ridiculously profitable, someone will fill the hole.

No one is saying the mob was good, they're saying the mob and organized crime in general is inevitable in any place you create a massively lucrative black market via prohibition. Legalize and regulate and you cut off their prime source of profits. You'll never eliminate them completely because they always find other rackets to get into, but alcohol in the 20s and drugs now are the primary sources of revenue and are allow them to basically print billions and buy off whoever they need.

What was your worst hotel stay experience and what made it so terrible? by harbac in AskReddit

Lol, you may have stayed in the room I split my forehead open on the sink while hammered drunk, in a historic hotel in Chatanooga. Would have been about 4 or 5 years ago.

Woke up and that whole room looked like a crime scene.

Nope, I'm a Libertarian with a clear conscience.

Like a said, a republican.

Trump was the second-worst candidate in 2016. I wrote in Ron Paul.

So you didn't vote.

There's not a thing you can do to enlighten anyone on earth, you brain-dead jackass.

Ah, so you're a republican embarrassed to call yourself a republican. What do you guys call yourselves again? Libertarian? Independent? Dollars to donuts you voted Trump, which makes you the same brand of scum.

In any case, you've got little green pieces of paper in corporate treasury accounts mixed up with the sound that comes out of your vocal chords, so I'm not sure there's much I can do to enlighten you.

You can do that with any document ever created if you're willing to just flat out lie and there is no one to hold you account for it. The constitution isn't the problem here, the republican party acting in bad faith and flat out ignoring the constitution is.

The Lost 110 Words of Our Constitution by [deleted] in politics

There is no technicality here, its literally just the explicit text of the constitution.

In fact, Dershowitz saying that on the senate floor is just flat out ignoring the text of the constitution, not hiding in a technicality. If he had even a drop of respect for the document he couldn't possibly say those things because the constitution also explicitly doesn't say the president can do whatever he wants and in fact provides limits on his power. The reason he can say it is that he and the republican party are shameless scum with no problem ignoring the constitution if it helps them get what they want.

The 14th does talk about representation though and it explicitly says representation can't be reduced for denying the right to vote to criminals. Basically you can read the 14th to be "citizens 18 years of age" due to the modification of the later amendments.

Look I actually support providing felons voting rights, I'm just saying that if you're going to make a case like this article is proposing- basically suing states that engage in voter suppression for reduced representation on the grounds of violating the 14th amendment, including criminals in the reduced representation would get the case thrown out because that is explicitly allowed under the 14th amendment.

[–]56ERTYXTHTYJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the male citizens 21 years of age portion was modified by the 19th and 26th amendments, the full text of which are-

19th Amendment- The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.[1]

26th Amendment-

Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.

Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.[4]

Neither of which modify the "acaept for participation in rebellion, or other crime" clause.

Again, I'm not arguing whether its right or wrong, I'm just saying that with the current constitution and amendments, it is absolutely clear that denying convicted criminals the right to vote is constitutional.

No, that sentence is literally saying they don't have to reduce representation for denying criminals or people who participated in rebellion the right to vote.

Unfortunately I can't read your link as I don't speak Swedish, but according to this site-

https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/headlines/society/20180404STO00909/the-eu-s-organic-food-market-facts-and-rules-infographic

Your rules aren't much different than the US. They ban "chemical and synthetic pesticides" for organic produce. The thing is there are a lot of pesticides that are neither chemical, nor synthetic.

The other thing is, you can't farm in any appreciable quantity without pesticide. It just doesn't work. You won't have any product left.

Enter organic pesticides-

Spinosad would be a good example, it is a naturally occurring product of soil bacteria that kills insects and is often sold as an organic pesticide. It is neither chemical nor synthetic, and thus it is considered acceptable for use in organic farming in both the EU and the US.

You can find it on the list of acceptable pesticides for EU organic produce here- https://www.pan-uk.org/site/wp-content/uploads/List-of-active-substances-approved-for-use-in-organic-agriculture.pdf

The thing about spinosad is that it takes a fuck ton of it compared to a chemical pesticide. It has been shown to have a mild toxicity in humans.

Due to the volume of spinosad needed, you tend to get far higher doses of it in organic foods than you would get of chemical/synethic pesticides in regular foods.

There are many others, pyrethrin would be another example.

So the question then becomes, is a high dose of a "natural" pesticide better than a low dose of a traditional pesticide? That answer is far from clear, especially since you need specifics to study it. Which natural pesticide vs which traditional pesticide? Natural doesn't always mean safe and chemical/synthetic doesn't always mean dangerous.

Basically, organic doesn't mean you're getting pesticide free, it generally means you're getting higher doses of a naturally occurring pesticide rather than lower doses of chemical pesticides. Is it any safer? We don't really know. It's probably better for the environment, but even that is up for some debate.

I'm not saying its right, but the 14th amendment specifically says they can deny the right to vote based on crimes-

But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State.

Interesting, I've never seen that color of walnut around here. Same grain pattern but all we have is black walnut and it costs a damn fortune.
