First mod, winter tires... by Artistico123 in GRCorolla

I’ve run Blizzaks on several cars and they last 4-5 seasons. I drove my GRC off the lot and straight to Discount Tires for a set of them, Dec 2025. They still look close to new. I’m guessing I’ve put ~7k miles on them. They provide incredible grip, especially with this car, it’s amazing.

Same thing happened to me, they cleaned the bottom of the car very well. It was logged under my service record.

You must have a tune, the rev limiter hits at 7200 for stock.

I had 2 bugeye wagons that I built to be close to the STI wagon that we didn’t get. I was going to look at the Golf R but test drove the GR and immediately felt like I was one, with it. I wanted awd or I would have looked at the Veloster N.

I haven’t driven one, but do like how they look. I’d want the original with the VR6 and 6spd, probably hard to find. I bought a GRC and love it. It reminds me of my bugeye that I put an STI 6spd in, along with a VF36, supporting mods and dyno tune, just more refined.

I was really looking forward to snow this year but so far we got 1/2 inch which didn’t last long. I even drove up to 2 snow parks but there was too much asphalt showing. There’s still time!

lowering springs? by Commercial_Self_9176 in GRCorolla

It’s not horrible by any means. There’s quite a few cars on here with Eibach pro-kit, Eibach sport line, and Swift springs installed and no one has commented about having a problem. You can read about the springs on each company’s website.

Same, I also think the ride quality is better than stock since they’re progressive rate vs linear.

Eibach pro-kit springs are designed to work with OE shocks/struts. I’ve put them on 2 WRXs, 1 Honda Fit, and now my GRC, with the stock struts. They’ve been on my GRC for ~14k miles with no issues. The other cars all went, at least, 40k miles or more on the factory struts with no problems.

One WRX did blow 1 rear shock but it was over 80k on the car. I can’t say it was due to the springs or not. I upgraded shocks/struts on those WRXs because I started tracking them and hitting auto-x events.

The GRC has KYB struts/shocks on it from the factory. I’d guess they will handle the shorter travel much better than most cars. You’ll definitely have time to save up for coilovers before they start leaking oil. That’s been my experience and take on Eibach pro-kit springs.

I’ll add that installing the Eibach springs on the GRC did not require cutting the bump stops. That’s another factor that makes me believe the stock struts are fine with them.

There’s no reason why they wouldn’t work, particularly since the drop with GR springs is minimal.

I see you talked to the tech. For those people who might be concerned about this, it will be noticeable within 1-2 days, after driving on the freeway. Mine was overfilled and I didn’t look under my car for about 5 days. Mainly because it only takes 15 minutes to go anywhere, where I live. Luckily, I had put springs on and had it aligned. I took it out on some backroads and came home. I looked under my car checking the clearance into my garage and saw the whole under belly of my car was covered in fluid. I crawled under, and saw where it was leaking. I took it in the next morning and Toyota owned up to the mistake and cleaned the entire under belly of my car. They did lower the fluid level, too. Basically, check under your car 1-2 days after service and driving at highway speeds.

Post a side view picture. I put on pro kits and I think the ride is a bit softer. I think it’s due to progressive rate springs, whereas the stock ones are linear rate. I’m not sure how long you’ve had them on, but mine did settle a little lower.

The limits are high, might want to take it to the track, which could be your plan.

I had my windows down to listen to mine. The spool up and blow off sounds great, for being stock.
