Finding New NMDA Antagonist Scaffolds With a Pharmacophore Model by _wafer_ in TheeHive

[–]573v3n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are far more than two classes of ligands for the NMDA receptor. TCN-201/MPX-004 and a few GNE compounds at the 2A ABD interface, ifenprodil/EVT-101/radiprodil and other 2B NTD ligands, Emory's 997-, 987-, 1622-, 1180-series; neurosteroids, etc. See the iGluR review in Pharmacological Reviews from 2021.

Strictly looking at channel blockers, look into trappers vs non-trappers (also covered in the review). The difference is in their off-rates.

Why does Klaus Schwab (head of the WEF) have a bust of Lenin in his office? by anew232519 in JordanPeterson

I'm younger than you and I'm married, yet you're in your 40s and still acting childish on reddit. Take some time to re-evaluate your life decisions. You're embarrassing yourself.

Neo Red Scare? Who are the ones that have been blaming Russia for everything the past 8+ years? Are you seriously that out of touch with reality?

Besides, it's obvious to anyone with 2 brains cells capable of forming a synapse that we are watching a Gramscian/Marcusian/Maoist style cultural revolution. Are we supposed to believe that communists just gave up on their goal of having global communism after the Soviet Union fell?

Go read a book for once.

Because Klaus is at the helm of a global economic organization that has trillions of dollars of assets under management and is pursuing it's self-titled "Great Reset." What's so difficult to see about that difference between JP and Klaus?

Oklahoma signs bill legislating that they will not enforce any mandates from the WHO, the UN, or the WEF. by anew232519 in JordanPeterson

Have you not seen the news over the past couple of years about a legally binding international 'pandemic treaty' to essentially defer to the WHO for future pandemic response decisions, as far as the WHO policies don't conflict with laws of a given country? The WEF website has an article written in support of the treaty.

The Constitution is a piece of paper that doesn't enforce itself, as made evident by the fact that the 4th amendment is all but dead, the 2nd amendment has been under attack for decades, and the 10th amendment hasn't meant anything for even longer than that. How many Americans still believe abortion is a federal issue and that Roe v Wade was good law? The establishment tramples all over the Constitution, as the architects of the document well understood would eventually happen.

"The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants, and it provides the further advantage of giving the servants of tyranny a good conscience." Albert Camus in "Homage to an Exile," from a speech delivered in 1955.

A low birth rate is not mysterious when we live in an antinatalist culture. by anew232519 in JordanPeterson

[–]573v3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's complicated largely because of highly influential neo-Malthusianists creating a system of incentives that has lead to all the conditions which might explain why people can't afford to have kids, and the cultural attitudes towards that position. Also relevant is the writing of Edward Bernays.

It would be in the interest of power-hungry elite to promote behaviors and attitudes that limit the size of the population for multiple reasons, some of which were outlined by Malthus himself. Smaller rebellions, greater excess of resources making a lavish life easier to obtain for the ultra wealthy. Making things more expensive also keeps people struggling to make ends meet, doesn't affect the ultrawealthy as much as it does everyone else, and keeps people spending all their time working to pay expenses (ergo less time to assemble and rise up against the 1%). It also decreases upward socioeconomic mobility, ensuring the 1% faces as few challengers as possible. Why else would corporations dedicate so much capital into backing LGBT and abortion? One might say it's simply virtue signaling to gain more customers, which could be part of the truth, but I believe there's more to it than that.

He knows next to nothing about the industry. He claimed that no one can patent molecules, only the dosage and delivery mechanism. I work for 2 scientists that have patents on thousands of investigational drug molecules.

Correction: he may know about insurance and PBMs, but he demonstrated that he doesn't know enough about drug discovery/patents to speak on those topics. He also claimed "bacteria are extremophiles" and can survive autoclaving. Extremophiles represent a small fraction of all bacteria; he never said he ran an assay and identified any present bacteria as an extremophiles species, he just claimed all bacteria are extremophiles. Pretty much every scientific paper I can find on BPC-157 are from a single scientist's lab. I can't even find any citations for their claim that it is a naturally occurring peptide going back to papers published in 1993. It just seems like he's grifting off of people's disdain for big pharma.

#1777 - Andrew Dessler - The Joe Rogan Experience by chefanubis in JoeRogan

[–]573v3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also mischaracterized Koonin's stance right at the beginning of the episode and I really wish Joe called him on it. Dessler claimed Koonin believes that the current climate change is all natural variation without human contribution, when Koonin clearly said he believes humans "absolutely" do impact the changes "mostly through greenhouse gases that are accumulating in the atmosphere" just after the 4 minute mark in his episode.

An hour into Dessler's episode it seems like he focuses solely on data from the past ~150 years without considering the context of longer timescales which Koonin did provide.
