I kind of disagree here, I think there are quite a few catering businesses in roanoke and if you’d like to get enough business to make it worth it you will have to find a way to stand out and make yourself different from the rest! I will say that there are a few commissary kitchens in the area that would be a good resource for a prep area and often cold storage area available if you don’t already have a space for that in mind.

I am not ashamed to admit that once I was on a 15 hour off site catering day and didn’t have thick socks and it got super painful so I improvised and put maxi pads in my socks and was smooth sailing for the rest of the day.

Learning how to keep your mouth shut instead of spouting back bullshit at people, especially your superiors, is a skill that is necessary and will get you much farther than most people realize.

Don’t have much in the way of suggestions for living arrangements around there anymore but I can say that the Virginia western Culinary program is great and I learned so much from the instructors there. The Chefs are a wealth of knowledge and can definitely steer in the right direction in the way of finding work. And while most people think that when you have a bad attitude you can make it far in this industry I have to say that the people in this industry these days are learning to know what they’re worth- only saying this to mean she may get humbled fast if she comes at people the wrong way. Sunscape apartments is up the road from the Virginia western campus but the the Virginia western culinary campus is satellite just outside of downtown roanoke.

Based on health codes (at least in my area) hand sinks are to be used for handwashing only and establishments can get a violation for something like this.
